Art Director  

The Art Director is ultimately responsible for leading the design, animation, visual branding, layout and usability for VML Qais client projects. They will work as a hands-on executer as well as collaborating with and directing other designers. The Art Director will also work with the project team as an equal partner in the development of the overall creative concept for all projects, ranging from online campaigns to corporate websites to online brand projects. The Art Director is expected to work closely with the User Experience Consultant to arrive at the optimal information architecture for a project. For some projects, the Art Director will lead the development of the information architecture. As a senior member of the team, the Art Director is expected to manage and mentor more junior members of the design team as well as oversee the output of temporary and freelance design staff.

Art Director’s Key Roles:

• Uphold a high standard of design and usability for all VML Qais projects.
• Produce layouts, designs and flash animations.
• Work with User Experience Consultant and alone to create sitemaps and wireframes.
• Actively participate in conceptualization of online strategies.
• Lead internal and freelance designers in design and production, ensuring a high quality of output.
• Mentor and manage designers to grow their skills, confidence and understanding of the online space.
• Continuously conduct research for new ideas in concept, design and execution.

Role as part of VML Qais Team:

• Being a senior and strategic client-facing resource for your practice areas as required.
• Acting as lead and quality control for our creative design activities, with inputs from other senior colleagues.
• Forming a part of the senior team working on business development, client servicing and project management.
• Participating in internal leadership activities including company strategy definition, target setting, internal systems development, team mentoring and skills growth, and the development of new service offerings.

• To be responsible for the personal and professional development of team assigned, and in particular for anyone reporting to you

• Minimum 3-5 years experience as an Art Director
• A killer portfolio
• Relevant Degree/Diploma
• Solid technical skills in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
• Must have strong Art Direction abilities across advertising disciplines
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
