Job Description

The Restaurant Manager has the primary responsibility of overseeing the day to day operations of Feta, conveying the company’s culture and high standards of service to the staff and customers. He/She will also provide support in the financial and operational management of the restaurant. It is imperative for the Restaurant Manager to advocate the company’s initiatives to elevate Feta’s dining experience through excellent cuisine paired with an outstanding brand of customer service.

As the Restaurant Manager, he/she is expected to provide the most professional service available to the guests through good, prompt, and courteous service of the team. The Restaurant Manager needs to fully understand all of the operating capabilities and limitations of Feta Mediterranean and to be able to tailor and clearly detail event orders and programs that will meet the needs of all clients. The Restaurant Manager will also participate in the development and execution of promotions, programs, and other specialized efforts to increase sales. May direct service staff prior to and during the execution of initiatives ensuring everything is in order and achieve results.

The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of restaurant operations and marketing including, but not limited to, managing, staffing, planning, budgeting, procuring, catering, new product development, e-commerce logistics, promotions, and training.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand the purpose, intent, rationale, mechanics, requirements and desired outcome of all company driven programs and initiatives; become the internal advocate of these programs and ensure all staff are aligned and working towards the same goals
  • Assigns work tasks and activities, prepares schedules and ensures that all shifts are coveredActively strategize efforts to increase revenue in terms of customer growth, average spend, and other projects such as but not limited to event catering, deliveries, deli items, etc
  • Manage food and labor costs to achieve financial goals and increase Feta Mediterranean's profitability
  • Oversee the aesthetic maintenance of the restaurant
  • Maintain close, professional and effective links with all external contractors and suppliers to ensure that they deliver at the highest quality levels
  • Lead monthly inventory counts and ensures weekly vendor orders are made and properly received; ensures units are stocked with appropriate levels of product
  • Create an exceptional customer experience and ensure that a very high level of customer service is constantly maintained.
  • Train and develop all staff; plan and deploy professional development programs to improve customer service and the quality of the restaurant’s operations
  • Build strong relationships with customers in order to gain a full understanding of their needs and work to serve them effectively.
  • Assess areas of opportunity and recommend solutions or develop plans to address restaurant or staff issues
  • Manage, record and resolve customer complaints in a prompt and professional manner
  • Support the General Manager and Head Office in developing and implementing creative strategies to increase revenue
  • Spearhead the development of Feta Mediterranean's marketing and strategic planning, ensuring that all marketing functions and activities are carefully aligned and support the restaurant's growth objectives
  • Work in tandem with the Head Office to develop overarching digital marketing strategy and approach, inclusive of social media, SEO/SEM, email marketing, and web development to drive online traffic to store, sell deli via e-commerce platform, and book catering clients
  • Interview job candidates, provide recommendations for hiring, terminations, evaluations, promotion or any other status change of staff
  • Provide orientation and follow through of company and department rules, policies and procedures and oversee the training of new employees
  • Develop staff incentive programs which will develop a service-oriented mindset, professionalism, and pride in the Feta Mediterranean brand
  • Oversee and ensure that restaurant policies on employee performance appraisals are followed and completed on a timely basis
  • Be knowledgeable of restaurant policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules, and procedures
  • Plays the leadership role in developing and executing programs that generate guest satisfaction and achieve targeted financial goals
  • Reports directly to the General Manager regarding all sales and promotional goals and initiatives of the restaurant
  • Performs a supervisory role in the direction of service staff prior to and during the execution of all relevant restaurant efforts

Minimum Qualifications

  • College degree required. Hospitality or Culinary Education a plus.
  • One to Two years of experience in a managerial position, preferably in a restaurant, hotel or quality beverage setting.
  • Culinary work experience is highly desirable
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with guests, customers, supervisors, and fellow employees and works proactively to train a team to resolve customer issues and prevent customer service failures
  • Must be able to work a flexible shift schedule to include weekdays, weekends, AM, PM and split shifts. This can be a nighttime or weekend intensive position requiring hands-on participation and direction of staff prior to and during events
  • Has the ability and temperament to work closely and knowledgeable with the culinary team in the development of both in-restaurant and catering menu
  • Must be able to handle guest requests and/or complaints
  • This position requires extremely refined organizational abilities and the ability to balance many active tasks simultaneously. Strong familiarity with food safety regulations and F&B service etiquette are preferred
