Job Description

The Climate Change Mitigation Specialist will undertake the following :

Preparation for Enhanced NDC Implementation

  • Define enhanced NDC mitigation implementation policy and measures.
  • Coordination between the UNDP and Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) as well as other relevant ministries to support the work on enhanced NDC measures.

Stocktaking on GHG mitigation potential in ocean-based sector

  • Hold consultation with related ministries/agencies on the current implementation, progress and challenges related enhanced NDC measures in ocean-based sector.
  • Develop a report/recommendation on the potential mitigation in ocean-based sector.

Expected Outputs and deliverables

  • Report on preparation enhanced NDC implementation policy and measures;
  • Report stocktaking on GHG mitigation potential in ocean-based sector;

Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the area of Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Climate Change, Development or other closely related field from an accredited college or university

Years of experience:

  • At least 6 year experiences in climate change researches, particularly mitigation action, GHG Inventory, and MRV system;
  • Excellent knowledge of issues related with climate change in general, mitigation action, GHG inventory, MRV system in spesific;
  • A good understanding of Indonesia’s NDC (Nationally Determined Contributions) outline;
  • Have relevant experience in climate change projects;
  • Possess working professional experience in working with government institutions and coordination mechanism is preferable;
  • Experience working with UNDP or other UN agencies and/or international organizations and/or major donor agencies will be an advantage.

Competencies and special skills requirement:

  • Demonstrate analytical skills;
  • Have a conceptual and practical knowledge of climate change issue
  • Understand the principles of index development;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with people in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently while also having the skills and interests to work effectively within teams
  • Fluency in English with excellent written communication skills, and strong experience writing and developing documents
