Junior Data Scientist  

Purpose

• Deep interest in research, statistical modeling, and machine learning algorithms, capturing actionable insights from data
• Oversees and Supports activities of Data Science Associates
• Reports to Data Analytics and Data Science Lead
• Collaborates with internal and external teams
• Designs, implements, trains, and assess performance of Machine Learning Models
• Manages and handles simultaneous tasks and projects, prioritize work, while remaining functional under pressure and aggressive timelines

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform data manipulations 
  • cleaning, formatting,  splitting, joining datasets 
• Design, implement, train, and assess performance of a Machine Learning Model 
  • estimate timeline for the entire pipeline 
    • much better if more granular (i.e., estimated time for each step of the pipeline) 
• Setup/prepare trained model for deployment 
• Communication with clients (verbal and written) 
  • understand the client’s pain points 
  • understand the problem the client wants to solve 
  • assess if a Data Science solution is appropriate for the problem 
  • identify appropriate Data Science solution approaches for a given problem 
  • identify required data for the Data Science solution 
    • communicate data requirements to the client or via the designated client-facing personnel (Pre-Sales, Sales, Account Manager, etc.) 
• Apply enterprise tools to develop Data Science projects 
• As a team member, 
  • help cultivate a psychologically safe environment 
  • encourage and help other team members on their weak points, as well as be open to asking for other team members’ help on your own weak points 
  • share knowledge (via brown bag or technical sessions) 
• Perform similar duties aligned with the proper execution of roles and responsibilities assigned

Minimum Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Data Science, or any other related field

• (And/Or) An equivalent of the same in working experience

Minimum Experience/Training

• Experience implementing a Machine Learning Project

  • Can be as a project in your company, a freelance project, or a personal project

  • Must be able to explain the process of how the project was developed

• Demonstrated technical and leadership skills

• Nice-to-have

  • Experience developing a Machine Learning model and having it used by the client or any end user

  • Experience working with a software developer to deploy a Machine Learning Model

  • Experience deploying a Machine Learning Model

  • Subject area or industry of expertise – knowledge in application domains such as in Finance, Healthcare, Education, Manufacturing

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools (esp. Microsoft Excel) and G Suite

• Programming -- Python/R and familiar with data wrangling and modeling libraries

• Machine Learning -- Familiarity with the pipeline of steps for developing a Machine Learning Model

Working Conditions

• Main office is at Makati

• Full-time position

• 6 months probation

• Collaborate with internal and external teams

• Attend trainings and get certifications

• On-site activities at times

• Engage in pre-sales activities such as product demos, scoping discussion, and other presentations for different groups, from Executives to end users

• Hold multiple hats at times (like Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Data Architect, Project Manager, Pre-sales)

• When Needed, perform work outside of the provided schedule

• Accountable for performance of solutions or systems designed and deployed
