Job Description
We are looking for a Learner Centric Instructional Designer to design, develop and implement great learning experiences. The goal of the Instructional Designer is to create tools that will help learners acquire knowledge, skills, and competencies in an effective and appealing manner.
POSITION SUMMARY
We expect that Instructional Designer will be highly motivated, creative and a well-organized individual who can:
- Translate our business needs into engaging learning activities and compelling course content
- Work with subject matter experts to build relevant course content
- Identifying the target audience’s training needs and translate that into learning tools
- Applying tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods
- Work independently or as part of a team as required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & CORE CAPABILITIES
The Instructional Designer will be expected to:
- Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer of knowledge
- Work with subject matter experts to identify and document the target audience’s training needs
- Articulate instructional end goals and create content that matches them
- Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface together with the finished product and then document the work
- Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
- Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods to all learning tools
- Create/source supporting materials such as exercises, activities, and media (audio, video, simulations, role-plays, games, etc.) that are designed to enhance the learning process
- Identify and implement desired learning outcomes and develop assessment tools to measure success
- Ability to communicate and interact with key stakeholders (both internal and external
- Develop first drafts and copy edits of new hire training roadmaps and/or training outlines
- Provide recommendations to lesson specifications including course objectives (terminal and enabling), modality, activities, and assessments
- Create content (for Instructor-led, Web-based, or Blended) with information that can be used and applied by target learners
- Assist in managing the Learning Management System (LMS) by creating courses, uploading modules, pulling up reports, and other LMS tasks when needed
- Conduct Train the Trainer (T3) sessions to impart the design of the course or module to the facilitator
- Monitor the implementation of courses and coordinate the input from ongoing variance analysis to update the instructional system
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from a four-year college or university with at least two years of relevant experience in instructional design, e-learning design and development, and/or training delivery
- Proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology
- Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
- Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
- Visual design skills and the ability to storyboard
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools like PowerPoint and Word
- Skilled with the use of rapid e-learning tools like Articulate Storyline and/or Captivate
- Knowledgeable with Adobe Creative Cloud tools and Adobe Presenter
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet timelines on deliverables
- Self-starter, sense of urgency, and works well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
- Sense of professionalism and ability to develop relationships
