We’re looking for someone that can assist in developing and maintaining features across our backend systems. As a Backend Developer, you will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting and developing related issues with our backend systems. We are looking for someone who has knowledge of at least one backend language and has the willingness to learn our stack. You should have some experience in developing web applications whether it be a personal project (we love to see these) or in a production environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & CORE CAPABILITIES
- Participate in the entire application lifecycle, focusing on coding and debugging
- Write clean code to develop functional web applications
- Troubleshoot and debug applications
- Perform UI tests to optimize performance
- Manage cutting-edge technologies to improve legacy applications
- Collaborate with Front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
- Gather and address technical and design requirements
- Provide training and support to internal teams
- Build reusable code and libraries for future use
- Liaise with developers, designers, and system administrators to identify new features
- Follow emerging technologies
- Developing web-based applications built on PHP frameworks
- Building REST API services to support applications in PHP or NodeJS
- Advising on best practice approaches to technology decisions
- Work closely with UX and UI teams in the design of websites
- Working with the Project Managers to estimate user stories thereby ensuring development sprints are achievable
- Working with the Quality Assurance team to deliver a quality product on time
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology
- At least 3 years experience as a Back-end developer
- 3-5 years of relevant experience with PHP
- Familiarity with front-end languages such as HTML, JS JavaScript and CSS
- Highly capable in acquiring new languages and methodologies
- Strong testing and debugging skills from server to front end
- Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
- Team player
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
