Job Description
Performs difficult and complex technical duties related to the purchasing of services, supplies, and equipment. Evaluates and approves procurement requests based on technical and application requirements.
- Accountable for the appropriateness of purchase requests in terms of technical specifications, applicability, appropriateness, and performance/value ratio.
- Evaluates technical products and systems plans for correct specifications prior to purchases.
- Reviews and checks project budgets for completeness, correctness, and valuation.
- Monitors project requirements and other requests and acts on them to satisfy requirements within time constraints.
- Confers with vendors to obtain the product or service information including the price, availability, delivery schedule and credit terms.
- Selects best supplier and coordinates closely with Purchasing Supervisor for approval.
- Responsible for preparation and/cancellation of Purchase Order (PO).
- Inspects products received for quality and quantity to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Closely coordinates with supplier regarding defective or unacceptable goods or services to determine the source of the problem and takes corrective action.
- Coordinates closely with warehouse personnel regarding stock requirements and stock level.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a graduate of at least a Bachelor's/College Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Must have at least two (2) years working experience in procurement or any related field
- Must be proficient in standard office applications such as document, presentation, and spreadsheet application
- Must be able to perform detailed work related to purchasing with judgment, accuracy, integrity, confidentiality and promptness
- Must be a team player but able to exercise considerable independence and initiative in daily activities
- Must have the following skill sets: communication (oral and written), interpersonal, problem-solving, negotiation, persuasion, active listening and learning, critical thinking, analytical thinking and time management
