Job Description
- Manages and recommends approval of the purchase, control, and expediting of merchandise items from existing validated suppliers at the optimum price, quality, and delivery.
- Manages the development and validation of new suppliers and/or products.
- Maintains merchandise inventory through proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, visual merchandising, display, and product marketing.
- Analyzes and strives to maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, pricing, availability, supplier capability and sourcing strategy relative to the product requirements and towards developing the Merchandising department into a substantial contributor to the company’s market positioning and bottom line.
- Oversees subordinates in the breakdown and monitoring of budgets per quarter and monitoring of stocks on a per-store level.
- Develops manning, expense, cost reduction projects and budgets and monitors performance against such plans.
- Conducts store visits to monitor proper merchandise mix, stock levels, stock aging, and display.
- Conduct competitor store visits to check on their activities, pricing, and other developments.
- Visits suppliers, attend trade fairs and exhibitions in order to source new items, iron out supply chain concerns, know new market trends, and consult with supplier company owners directly.
- Approves and participates in the negotiation of Purchase Orders, Supply, System, Receiving, Returns and Contracts.
- Organizes and issues required status reports to management outlining performance vs. targets.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/ Management, Marketing, Fashion Merchandizing, or any related course.
- Preferably 1-4 year experienced employee in retail merchandising/purchasing.
- Strong Analytical and Problem Solving Skills.
- Good at brand/inventory management and performance analysis.
