Job Description
What you will be working on:
- Performing risk evaluations of Shopify merchants.
- Contributing to the development of fraud detection systems.
- Reviewing merchant applications and documentations.
- Verifying businesses using 3rd part sources and creative use of the web.
- Assigning merchants to the appropriate underwriting levels and risk categories.
- Reviewing cardholder transaction details for signs of fraud or abnormalities.
- Analyzing merchant events anf actions, and setting the appropriate controls in response.
- Reviewing risk platform output, and performing complex fraud investigations to detect and uncover fraud instances and possible fraud rings.
- Minimizing merchant loss.
- Reviewing chargebacks, and helping to resolve chargeback disputes.
- Operating within the rules set forth by the card associations and educating merchants on how to do the same.
Minimum Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
- At least 2 years of operational experience in financial transaction processing or analysis with a direct focus on risk
- Experience accepting or processing payments
- Experience fighting Car-not-present fraud
- Experience in risk and underwriting
- Experience with SQL and reporting tools
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Fluent in one or more non-English languages (not mandatory, but as plus as Shopify expands internationally)
- Proven track record of successful payment dispute resolution
