Fiber Technician

Due to expansion in operations within our group we require fiber technicians with various levels of experience to splice fiber optic cables in indoor settings, read, create and maintain splicing schematics and diagrams, taking and maintaining accurate splicing and field notes.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

• Terminates, splices, and tests fiber optic cables.
• Installs, maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, constructs and tests various types of passive and active fiber and networking related devices on-site.
• Troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions using specialized tests and diagnostic equipment.
• Responds to service level incidents/ repairs and fault rectification on a 24/7 rostered basis.
• Investigates and repairs fiber optic related faults in a timely manner, and as directed by the Network Operations Center.
• Documents and helps maintain as-built documentation.
• Makes recommendations for improvements or modifications to correct problems and gain efficiencies.
• Performs preventative maintenance.
• Ensures documentation/field notes are stored networked sites/ buildings.
• Logs site activities such as time, consumables, and materials.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's Degree in relevant area.
• Experience on GPON networks would be advantageous.
• International experience.
• Experience in a similar role.

Required:

• Familiar with fiber fusion splicing.
• Familiar with OTDR, power meter, VFL and insertion loss testing.
• Strong documentation skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong command of English.
