Job Description
- Copyedits chemical science articles, ensuring text clarity by implementing language and grammar corrections while applying client style or specifications
- Ensures that article contents are coherent and consistent, taking pride in high quality, accurate and error-free work
- Consult and provide useful inputs regarding copyediting decisions on specific papers or situations
- Constructs appropriate and coherent queries to article authors, as necessary
- Participates in a group and individual training for the standardization of processes and to further enhance his/her copyediting skills
- At a senior level, acts as a trainer and peer reviewer to help guide newly hired copyeditors
Minimum Qualifications
- College degree in Chemistry with good exposure to chemistry procedures and/or laboratory work
- With a passion for reading and an enthusiasm to expand his/her knowledge in the chemical sciences while at the same time contributing to its advancement
- With an excellent command of the English language, especially in written form
- Preferably with experience in copyediting
- Has advanced internet research and validation skills
- Any form of familiarity with publishing processes is an advantage
