Job Description

The Safety Officer is responsible for upholding and maintaining the culture of health and safety established by the OSHE Department Head and Safety Engineer within SP’s construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the General Construction Safety and Health Officer of the company
  • In accordance with the Philippine National Occupational Safety and Health Standards and other pertinent issuances of the Dept. Of Labor and Employment (DOLE), assists the OSHE Manager in developing a standard Construction Safety and Health Program (CSHP) that the company will use in all its projects
  • Assumes the role of Safety Officer in a SP project.
  • Conducts orientations of all workers engaged by the company in the project
  • Takes lead in the institutionalization of the CSHP in all projects
  • In coordination with the Project Manager and Site Engineers, conducts regular monitoring and inspection of all health and safety aspects of the workplace and of all construction works being undertaken thereat, ensuring compliance by everyone of the provisions of the CSHP
  • Takes lead in assisting DOLE personnel in any work site health and safety inspection or during accident investigations
  • Prepares monitoring forms and other documentary requirements regarding OSH
  • Prepares reports as may be required
  • Does other related tasks as may be assigned from time to time
  • Ensures workers compliance with all the safe work practices
  • Monitors activities at all times to avoid any untoward incidents
  • Attends site safety coordination meeting on site in the absence of safety engineer/supervisor
  • Conducts toolbox meeting to all workers
  • Conducts daily walkthrough and weekly inspection to ensure compliance of all Workers & subcontractors and identify hazards on project sites
  • Responsible for keeping records of minutes of tool box meeting

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Knowledge/Certification

  1. Bachelor’s Degree, college graduate in engineering is preferred but not required
  2. COSH Training and First Aid Training or other related seminar pertaining to safety.

Skills

  • Computer literate and proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills.
  • Can work under pressure, with good moral character and is trustworthy.
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills and knowledge in the work.
  • Willing to work long hours.
  • Quick in delivering results.
  • Detail oriented, passionate, relentless, organized, adaptable, proactive, and very inquisitive.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience as a safety officer in safety implementation of construction site
