Job Description

Solar Philippines is growing! We are building a 3-man team to work under our Utility Market Segment division—an addition to our Commercial Sales Group. The Energy Economics Manager will be working closely alongside an Energy Trader and a Power Market Analyst for optimum monitoring of activities in the industry. The role requires someone equipped with vast knowledge of the business, good leadership, and highly analytical.

  • Has experience in energy trading and power market analyst role.
  • Does market researches, monitors, and conducts studies on transformational changes in the industry; at par with NGCP operations.
  • Delivers reports and presentations with adequate and thorough analysis of the state of the market.
  • Coordinates with various LGUs regarding engagements in the power plants.
  • Knowledgeable in the regulations of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) and able to strategically align biddings with market condition.
  • Has knowledge in studying weather patterns essential to monitor and boost the activity of the business.
  • Conducts electricity price forecasting through market simulations and contracting for replacement power.
  • Strong knowledge on EPIRA, PEMC’s Market Manuals, and the energy stock market.
  • Able to distinguish key movements and utilize it as aid in developing relationships with clients.
  • Ability to manage and provide concise micro and macro analysis of regulatory changes, budgets, trade issues, and policies.
  • Developing and overseeing plans, preparing budgets and supports subordinates through mentorship.
  • Communicates the changes to the department in order to guide sales movement.
  • Develop and maintain economic data on consumer behavior and the energy market.
  • Contributes to company improvements by directing necessary actions to be taken to promote efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in the energy industry. Experience in the renewable sector is a plus.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Can establish strong interpersonal relations inside and outside the company.

  • Able to work independently and with a team.

  • Competence in performing business / market simulations

  • Competitive strategic outlook and energy modeling capability.

  • Statistically-inclined; knowledge in Pivot Table is a must.

  • Highly detail-oriented to provide complete data.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and complete research projects.

  • Efficient and excellent work output amidst fast-paced, competitive environment.
