Job Description

The responsibilities associated with this position include but not limited to:

  • Enhancement and development of relevant market models (Eg. Energy and Ancillary Services markets in Luzon, Visayas and, the Mindanao grid) in simulation tools for both fundamental and probabilistic models focusing on, among others.
  • Tasks for probabilistic modelling for relevant markets as required.
  • Perform regular back-testing and calibration of the market models, both fundamental and probabilistic models.
  • Provide an extensive outlook on relevant markets for the medium to long term (energy, ancillary services, renewable energy markets and any other relevant markets). This shall cover the significant drivers affecting market prices .
  • Provide financial projections for corporate strategic planning activities, project expansion valuations, refurbishment, refinancing activities and, mergers and acquisitions.
  • Proper data handling and process documentation:
  • Other task that may be assigned from time to time

Minimum Qualifications

Skills: (Minimum requirements in terms of knowledge and skills)

  • Market Analysis
  • Statistical and analytical skills
  • Corporate Planning / Financial Analysis
  • Optimization, Market Simulation Tools, Forecasting models (SDDP/ Plexos/ Crystal Ball/ Monte Carlo simulations)
  • Capacity to do research work: Markets, Plant technological advancements and cost, Contracts, Policies, Rules and, Regulations (Including External Relations /Customer Orientation)
  • Wholesale Electricity Spot Market and Ancillary Services Operations
  • Computer literate, proficient in word processing, spreadsheet applications and presentation/graphics tools.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • With preference for candidates with substantial working knowledge on hydroelectric power plant operations, electric power system operation and analysis; and programming

Experience: (Minimum required experience)

  • At least five (5) years of experience in the energy market with background in Engineering and/or Technical field, and experience in planning, forecasting and market analysis.
  • Highly substantial experience in the energy market.

Education: (Minimum required educational attainment)

  • Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or Applied Sciences
  • Experience or knowledge in financial planning is preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Energy Economics or any relevant degree
  • PhD in any relevant discipline an advantage.

About SN Aboitiz Power

SN Aboitiz Power (SNAP) Group SN Aboitiz Power-Magat, Inc. owns and operates the 360-megawatt (MW) Magat Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEPP) located at the border of Ramon, Isabela and Alfonso Lista, Ifugao. The Magat HEPP was a state-owned facility until SNAP-Magat took over operations on April 26, 2007. A year earlier on December 14, 2006, SNAP-Magat had successfully bid for the plant in the amount of USD530 million under the Philippine government’s power sector privatization program. SNAP-Magat has 22 host barangays (villages) located in 10 municipalities across the three provinces of Isabela, Ifugao, and Nueva Viscaya. SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet, Inc. owns and operates the 105-MW Ambuklao HEPP in Bokod and the 140-MW Binga HEPP in Itogon, both located in Benguet. On November 28, 2007, SNAP-Benguet won the public bid for the Ambuklao and Binga HEPPs, which were sold as a package under the power sector privatization program of the Philippine government. SNAP-Benguet offered a bid price of USD325 million and took over operations on July 10, 2008. The dams remain government-owned. SNAP-Benguet is hosted by the province of Benguet and the municipalities of Itogon and Bokod. It has 3 host barangays, as well as the Shakilan ni Ikulos Indigenous Peoples’ Organization and the Tinongdan Indigenous Peoples’ Organization. Both companies are joint ventures between SN Power of Norway and AboitizPower. SN Aboitiz Power Group is the collective name of SNAP-Magat and SNAP-Benguet. It is a recipient of several local awards and citations for its safety records, community programs, stakeholder relations and environmental campaigns. It has also received international recognition in the Asian region for privatization and project financing as well as for its plants’ performance as independent power producers.
