Occupational Safety and Health Officer  

JOB PURPOSE:

The Supervisor, as an occupational safety and health (OSH) practitioner, will support the SMRI’s initiatives related to employee health and safety, sanitation, and emergency preparedness against fire, typhoons, earthquakes, evacuations, or medical illness outbreaks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Occupational Safety and Health

• Develop an OSH policy, set-up controls, and assist in the establishment of an OSH committee
• Develop a hazard identification, risk assessment and control (HIRAC) and recommend practical solutions and control measures in compliance to government orders and laws, and corporate policies
• Develop and implement a well-planned and coordinated Emergency Response Plan (ERP) for earthquakes, fire, typhoons, flooding, and other disasters that are applicable to the company and its environment
• Organize workshops on accomplishing the risk assessment form/matrix
• Lead management of change to ensure continuous improvements of processes and systems that are responsive to the changing work environment, priorities, and management direction

Employee Administration:

• Guide and support the Human Resource and Customer Relations Services departments in the proper implementation of fire, evacuation, and emergency drills
• Organize e-learning modules in first aid and basic OSH

Customer Focus:

• Ensure timely delivery and complete fulfillment of internal customers’ needs
• Practice customer service excellence
• Develop a webpage for e-learning modules, quick reference guides, and timely communicating of policy changes, ERP, and OSH programs

Relevant Experience and Education

• Licensed Chemical Engineer, or degree in other related fields
• Member of good standing in a government-recognized professional organization in the Philippines
• Valid accreditation and basic training in OSH (40 hours) from DOLE or other recognized organizations
• Minimum of 5 years specific work experience as OSH Practitioner
• Training in emergency preparedness and response
• Experience in OSH policy and ERP development, implementation, and monitoring is an advantage
