Job Description
The Project Implementation Engineer is responsible in installing and aligning fiber, trunk, feeder and drop cables for Outside Plant Projects (OSP). He or She also perform testing of plant parameters including end of line reading in projects implemented by contractors and ensure they are built within acceptable quality standards and has meet required specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Performs splicing and activation of additional lines and plant revisions project on existing facilities to further improve quality of service to customers
- Ensures minimal signal interruption in tap upgrade and other plant revision projects implemented by contractors.
- Performs physical survey of line cables such as span sag and damaged cable and cable clearance to the other pole users as needed.
- Reports all critical incident encountered in the field and advises immediate superior or concerned groups before and after plant activities.
- Performs sweeping and troubleshooting as needed.
- Ensures all implemented projects are built within acceptable quality standards and meet required specifications.
- Performs weather proofing (sealing) by using shrinkable tubing and/or other forms of weather protective materials to protect connectors and line junctions from water migration.
- Prepares material utilization report based on actual inspection and performs materials audit.
- Performs head end set up and fiber preparation and interconnection.
- Performs testing and commissioning of projects.
- Performs pre-construction survey and submits as built maps (In Building & OSP- Coax/Fiber)
- Supervises and monitors layout of fiber and coax cables – riser, distribution, feeder and drop cables for OSP and Corporate projects.
- Coordinates with contractors for project installation and recovery, power supply, cabling, splicing, and grounding system.
- Coordinates with the warehousing group and ensures timely release of construction materials.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by superiors as the need arises provided such are within the bounds of official company business function and in line with group functional objective.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering; must be a Licensed Engineer
- With at least year 1 year relevant experience in Cable Operations, Design, Construction and Project Implementation
- With equivalent experience in Cable TV and broadband operations and maintenance
- Has a valid professional Driver’s License
