Job Description

The Business Development Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring business and marketing strategies and plans for the achievement of revenue goals for the company.

  • Primary responsibilities include identifying new business opportunities, pitching the company’s programs, products and/or services, and managing existing relationships with clients
  • Other functions include project management, planning, market research, and product/sales forecasting and analysis

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Business Development Strategy

  • In conjunction with the Director, to coordinate the implementation and delivery of the company’s business development strategy and business plan
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge about the business and its development practices, its marketing activities, prospective clients, and industry trends
  • Proactively identify funding and sponsorship opportunities within the company’s programs and activities including corporate development opportunities
  • Build partnerships with funding agencies to support project activities
  • Engage in market research to identify new business opportunities

2. Lead Generation and Account Management

  • Identify and build new business opportunities
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans
  • Facilitate client requirements meetings – both in person and/or remotely using current online presentation applications
  • Report weekly sales forecasts
  • Develop business proposals for new and existing customers
  • Deliver sales presentations/proposals to prospective clients with a successful closing rate
  • Manage existing business relationships and/or relationships with clients
  • Generate sales (walk-ins and corporate accounts)
  • Evaluate accounts
  • Develop innovative strategies for retaining clients
  • Manage projects to make sure that they get completed in a timely manner
  • Participate in forums related to the industry, conferences and client discussions
  • Maintain active participation and membership in networking organizations

3. Branding and Advertising

  • Responsible for supporting the Marketing Assistant in various marketing activities and advertising campaigns
  • Participate in media communication activities for the company, including marketing press releases, websites, and advertisements

Minimum Qualifications

Academic Qualification:

  • Graduate of Education, Business Studies / Administration / Management, Commerce, Economics, Marketing or any related course

Work Experiences and KSA:

  • With 3-5 years work experience in sales, marketing and/or business development preferably in the Education and Labor sector
  • Experience of developing and maintaining effective partnerships with corporate clients, or equivalent experience
  • Preferably has an established network within different industries, particularly the academe, education, and labor sector
  • Preferably has marketing and media experience
  • Excellent presentation and client management skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Results driven, dynamic, enterprising and flexible
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; proven ability to be flexible in a team-oriented approach with diverse groups of people
  • Can relate, deal, and interact with different kinds of people at all levels in the organization
  • Can work independently (individual) and interdependently (group)
  • Willing to work on Saturdays (twice a month) and do field work, if needed

Knowledge. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Strategic Planning, Project Management, Marketing, Account Management, In-depth knowledge about business development practices, marketing activities, prospective clients and industry trends.

Ability. Detail Orientation, Data Intuition and incorporation or the capacity to integrate information from different sources (data and people), Coherent and elegant writing, and Creativity, Ability to work under pressure and under minimum supervision with high-level of accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness.
