The Role: The Quality & Digital editing team (“Q&D team”) is a global group of editors tasked with ensuring S&P Global Platts content meets our high standards. The team drives long-term improvement and excellence, playing a central role in coaching and mentoring reporters in their journey to becoming strong content creators.

The Location: Silver City in Pasig, Manila, Philippines

The Impact: To ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to Platts News Essentials and style.

The Career Opportunity: This role offers the opportunity to learn about the many commodity markets Platts covers, as well as various types of content Platts creates. You’ll play a central role in ensuring Platts content meets the highest editorial standards, is free of errors and libel risk, and is structured to have maximum impact.

The Team / The Business: You’ll sit within the Q&D team, which is part of the wider news team at Platts. You’ll work with global commodity editors and content creators in a fast-paced environment. Editing can include news stories, market commentaries and thought leadership reports, among others.

Your Skills: Very strong interpersonal and communication skills; Strong English language writing and editing skills; Digital media skills; Moderate to strong math skills; Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines; a degree in journalism and 3-4 years of editing experience will be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all content meets Platts News Essentials principles and style rules, sending content back for rework with constructive feedback when needed.
• Ensure all content is market relevant, accurate, legally compliant and concise.
• Ensure Platts insight is presented in the best way and suggest changes when needed.
• Ensure all Platts.com content is optimized for online display, with tight headlines/subheads, clear graphics.

What We’re Looking For:

The successful candidate should be up to the challenge of establishing a new editing desk, displaying excellent journalistic skills and instincts. The candidate should also be able to work overnight shifts after the training period is completed.

Basic Qualifications:

• The ability to edit a high volume of wide-ranging, complex, often sensitive copy, at speed and under pressure.
• The ability to apply the tenets of good journalism while editing content. This means, at minimum, ensuring the content is clear and concise, adheres to Platts' house style, has the proper sourcing and attribution, and is free of plagiarism and libel concerns.
• Amenable to work in a shifting schedule (day and night shift)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience working on a news desk is a plus, particularly for a news wire.
• High degree of literacy and numeracy.
• Working knowledge of energy and commodity markets and industries is highly advantageous.
