Job Description

The Role: UK Accounts Assistant

The Location: Silver City, Pasig, Philippines

The Team: The team is comprised of 6 members (5 UK and 1 Manila based) who all interact very well and maintain a good team ethic and attitude towards fulfilling their roles and responsibilities. They look to assist each other with their varying experience, knowledge and skillsets to ensure that all deadlines are met.

The Impact: In this role you will support the Frankfurt and London based Controllership teams who look after numerous countries and entities throughout the EMEA region, in addition to playing a vital role in the accounting related support to the Digital & Infrastructure (DI) and Data, Technology & Innovation (DTI) units. You will be responsible for assisting with the key financial operations of Financial Accounting, Tax, Treasury and Value Added Tax (VAT) reporting. You will also be responsible for assisting in general financial administration duties and various project initiatives that the Controllership team are working on, with a view to bringing greater efficiency and effectiveness in how we operate.

Responsibilities:

  • Creation and posting of monthly journal entries including:
  • Interrogation of P&L to identify the appropriate reclassifications,
  • Identifying P&L items that should be treated as prepayments,
  • Determining the appropriate accruals based on information available,
  • Identifying gaps between actuals and expectations and taking appropriate action,
  • Provision of support for monthly payroll accounting entries
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Creation and submission of manual payment requisitions
  • Collating information for statutory external audit requests
  • Running Trial Balance reports as required
  • Compilation of monthly sales reporting for VAT purposes
  • Compilation of information and preparation of VAT returns for Germany, Luxembourg and Sweden
  • Collating GL detail reports on a monthly and ad-hoc basis
  • Provision of spend reporting on a monthly and ad-hoc basis
  • Involvement and participation in ad-hoc efficiency projects set by the London-based Controllership team

Minimum Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in finance, preferably from a shared services environment.
  • Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Well organized and able to prioritize conflicting deadlines
  • Attention to detail, results orientated, agility and rigor
  • A strong desire to exceed expectations
  • Real team player with innate desire to effect change
  • Use of Oracle General Ledger or similar ERP
  • Must be willing to work in a mid-shift schedule

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong technical accounting skills, with working knowledge of FRS/IFRS and US GAAP knowledge being favourable
  • General understanding of Corporate Tax, Sales Tax/VAT principles
