Cost Accountant  

Main responsibilities: Data collection, Inventory management, Cost Control, and performance evaluation.

BASIC FUNCTIONS

Data collection

• Collect data for accounting system.
• Cost accumulation.
  • This includes materials, labor, and overhead charges attributable to production as well as in providing services.
• Implement controls needed for data accumulation and reporting system.
• Validate Cost of Goods sold each month end for closure.

Inventory (asset management)

• Coordinate inventory count and investigate variances.
• Update standard costs and review discrepancies with actual.
• Accumulate and apply overhead costs to products as required by financial reporting standards.
• Work with management for disposal or recycling of obsolete inventories.

MANAGEMENT ANALYSIS FUNCTION

Cost control (management)

• Perform analysis of variances and deviation from standard costing.
• Conduct analysis of process constraints and identification of bottleneck.
• Make analysis for capital expenditure, make or buy decisions, transfer pricing, and expand or drop-off of branches and distributors through profitability analysis.

Performance evaluation

• Report break even points and contribution margins per service lines (distributorship, direct sales, and service).
• Report on causes of variances specifically for spending.
• Monitor cost and benefits of decision made for capital expenditure.
• Work in close coordination with the management for improvement of overall spending capacity.

• Degree in Accountancy or Commerce (Major in accountancy) or a degree in Management Accounting.
• At least two years of experience in cost accumulation process for manufacturing entities.
• Knowledge and interest in Management accounting (cost accounting and management reporting).
• Strong analytical and planning skills.
• Good communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
