Essential Functions of this position include:

  • Lead the brand planning process by developing and executing annual brand target setting, brand strategy review and brand operating plans
  • Drive product positioning and go-to-market strategies to increase market share
  • Manage the product mix within the brands’ respective product categories and maintain brand integrity across product lines & communications
  • Develop pricing strategies and guidelines to offer competitive market prices while maximizing gross margins
  • Monitor and meet Gross Margin (GM), Gross Margin Return on Inventory Investment (GMROII) and Months-On-Hand (MOH) standards
  • Manage the Open-To-Buy (OTB) across the respective brands’ product categories to ensure that sales targets are met, that purchases are within budget and that inventory levels meet MOH standards
  • Design an annual marketing plan and ensure the implementation of all related marketing strategies; control, manage and monitor all related marketing activities & expenses in accordance with the approved marketing budget
  • Establish and manage distribution channels in collaboration with Channel Sales and/or Sales Team to ensure sales target achievement and growth
  • Participate in integrated go-to-market initiatives and manage social media strategy and voice
  • Develop, implement and execute grassroots initiatives (with the assistance and support of the Field Marketing Representatives) to foster brand awareness and drive sales
  • Build and maintain relationships with local running communities, influencers & ambassadors
  • Build a highly functioning team by creating clear and consistent work streams, manage their career development and opportunities for growth within the company

Minimum Qualifications

  • College Graduate
  • Must have atleast 1 year experience in Brand Management
  • Training / Technical Skills
    • Leadership and Management: Promotes teamwork and cooperation;, motivates others to work together toward a common objective; delegates effectively and acknowledges accomplishments; ability to balance concern for results, deadlines, tasks and budget responsibilities
    • Marketing: Capacity to effectively position a brand by providing the right products to the right market through the right distribution channels at the right time; ability to create and build advocacy for the brand through above-the-line and below-the-line marketing initiatives
    • Decision Making: Capability to analyze data, consider alternatives and assess their impact on current and potential problems
    • Organizational: able to plan, delegate, organize, direct and control
    • Initiative & Analytical Ability: Capacity to anticipate opportunities for the brand and develop plans and strategies accordingly
    • Communication: Has excellent oral and written communication skills; facility to listen actively and speak clearly
  • Working Environment
    • 60% office-based / 40% store rounds and market visit
    • With occasional travel for international meetings
    • Attends occasional events outside Metro Manila

About Toby's Sports In the Philippines, basketball may be the favorite sport, but with hundreds of malls in Metro Manila, shopping arguably comes close. When it comes to retail stores, one name pops up across the board as the ultimate destination for sports equipment and apparel: Toby’s Sports. The retail chain had its small beginnings in 1978 as a small and modest toy shop selling imported Disney goods in a quiet corner of the Greenhills Shopping Center. The store, which was first called Toby’s Forms and Shapes and later on Toby’s Sports and Hobbies, was the brainchild of Roberto Claudio, Sr., who named the store after his eldest son. Seeing an opportunity to sell skateboards after the holiday season, he eventually transformed his retail space into a sporting goods store that offered a wide array of sports apparel, equipment, and accessories. In the following years, Toby’s—under the leadership of Roberto, Sr. and his brothers Jojo and Rod, and his son, Toby—revolutionized the sporting goods business, and eventually relaunched as Toby’s Sports. From the small space in Greenhills, Toby’s continued to build a chain of sports stores in locations around the Philippines. Its wide product assortment, international brands, modern ambience, knowledgeable and professional sales personnel set them apart from the traditional stores. Toby’s was clearly different and ahead of its time. Today, Toby’s Sports constantly evolves to keep up with the times. When it comes to store design, features, merchandise, and staff, Toby’s maintains their stronghold and continues to push the limits of the sports retailing industry. In 2001, they opened the country’s biggest interactive sports superstore, the Toby’s Sports Arena. Several Arena concept stores are now open around the country, featuring activities and games that customers can enjoy, such as the Toby’s Basketball Shootout and an indoor climbing wall called The Rock, among others. Toby’s Sports carries more than 157 brands and showcases more than 60,000 unique items in over 30 branches nationwide. Thirty years later, far from their small beginnings, Toby’s continues to serve millions of Filipinos, igniting their passion for sports.
