Job Description

Primarily responsible for the overall management of the accounting department by developing and implementing accounting systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting information while managing accounting personnel in accordance with the company policies and procedures

A. ACCOUNTING STRATEGY MANAGEMENT AND ENHANCEMENT

  • Plans and evaluates the overall accounting management of the Company operations;
  • Directs and provides competent advice on the development and enhancement of accounting information systems and financial policies to ensure the accuracy, completeness, integrity, and timeliness of financial data;
  • Oversees financial planning, accounting, collection, and disbursements, and ensures the adequacy of and compliance with internal controls and external stakeholders.

B. ACCOUNTING TRANSACTIONS MANAGEMENT

  • Checks the accuracy and reliability of accounting reports and correctly classified according to the chart of accounts;
  • Determines the value of current assets and current liabilities, including inventories, receivables, prepayments, payables, and accruals; and
  • Determines the acquisition, disposal and value of non-current assets (i.e. long term assets), including property plant and equipment; defining policies on allowable reclassification of non-current assets (nature, amount and reason of reclassification).

C. ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE MANAGEMENT

  • Sets objectives for the accounts receivable team in accordance with the accounting department’s goals; and
  • Reviews, approves, and evaluates the effectiveness of invoicing procedures by overseeing collection and accounts receivable operations.

D. ACCOUNTS PAYABLE MANAGEMENT

  • Ensures timely and accurate reconciliation of accounting control statements by overseeing bank reconciliations, control accounts, revenue reconciliations, advances, and deposits.
  • Reviews the value of budget appropriations, allotments, obligations, revenues, and expenditures, and report promptly if budget execution decisions are infringing the control rules.

E. INTERNAL CONTROL

  • Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions;
  • Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts, defining accounting policies and procedures;
  • Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy and applying observations and recommendations to operational issues;
  • Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls; and
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

F. REPORTORIAL COMPLIANCE

  • Complies and submits all required documents/ reports within the prescribed timeframe.

  • Encourages subordinates and provides them adequate support and resources for them to become coaches; and
  • Undertakes developmental activities to enhance one’s competencies as a coach and performance development partner.

C. Leading Change

  • Constructs strategies, plans, and programs to anticipate and address changing priorities, emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities;
  • Elicits support and contributions of the work team and other key stakeholders to successfully implement change initiatives;
  • Identifies sources of conflict in situations involving a change process and acts sensitively, objectively and constructively to de-escalate conflict; and
  • Provides appropriate resources to support and implement change initiatives within the Office; and
  • Communicates the vision with clarity, enthusiasm, and conviction to promote sustained and successful implementation of change.

D. Thinking Strategically and Creatively

  • Plans, crafts, and adapts strategies for achieving the vision, mission, and objectives of the organization and secures the proper implementation of these strategies;
  • Explains the linkages and interactions among various functional areas, systems and processes of the organization, including the interface with clients, partners, and other stakeholders;
  • Evaluates changes in the operating environment and applies knowledge when exercising and recommending sound judgement in identifying range of solutions/ courses of action (i.e. adjusts plans and programs, tailors approaches and/or explores innovative alternatives); and
  • Speaks up to clarify decisions and points out potential negative impacts or repercussions.

E. Building Collaborative, Inclusive Working Relationships

  • Maintains positive and productive working relationships with the team, partners, or clients, despite differences in ideas or their attributes, or complexities to encourage sharing of expertise and bring about synergies, goodwill and mutual benefit;
  • Resolves conflicts, disagreements, and differing interests among team members, partners or clients in a constructive manner (e.g. win-win approach; use of appropriate conflict resolution processes; identification of common ground through dialogue and consensus; shared solutions perspective);
  • Identifies barriers to transparency and open communication and initiates appropriate solutions; and
  • Speaks up to clarify decisions and points out potential negative impacts or repercussions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy.
  • Five to ten (5-10) years relevant experience
  • License is required.
  • Strong analytical and planning skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
