Job Description
- Host for a website must craft likable personas to introduce programs, make public service announcements, appear at newsworthy community events and wrap-up programs for audiences.
- They do research and write their own material, often under tight deadlines.
- At smaller stations, the host may also perform off-air, production-related tasks, such as operating the control board, editing footage and logging program schedules. After the broadcast, the host may meet with the production crew to assess or review the broadcast and to plan the next broadcast.
- Host keeps the program running to schedule, responding positively and quickly to problems or changes and improvising when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- Well-groomed appearance;
- Articulate speech patterns;
- Ability to create a persona that resonates with audiences;
- Extremely adaptable to schedules;
- Strong analytical and planning skills;
- Good communication and presentation skills;
- Excellent problem-solving skills;
- Knows how to write an article.
