Job Description

The Warehouse Management System (WMS) Project Manager will lead and manage a cross-functional project team of at least five (5) people implementing WMS in a distribution center set-up. He / She will report to the Project Sponsor and International Consultant. Projects are usually separate to usual day-to-day business activities and require a group of people to work together to achieve a set of specific objectives. Project managers oversee the project to ensure the desired result is achieved, the most efficient resources are used and the different interests involved are satisfied.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manage within the budgeted resources and time the efficient execution of all stages of the WMS implementation phases and activities from design to go-live
  2. Post- implementation role is to lead a continual WMS project optimization team further extracting efficiencies of WMS features and implementing these accordingly
  3. Spearhead the implementation and transition phases and support for Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  4. Work closely with the team and the project sponsor in establishing initial implementation objectives and transition goals and ensuring accountability that these are consistently being met throughout the project cycle
  5. Hands on working closely with business users in gathering of requirements
  6. Handle both WMS system design and interface development with the project teams and users
  7. Responsible on the deployment and schedule of the WMS project implementation
  8. Provides update on the status and progress of the project
  9. Sends out schedule / time line for the phase/module of the project for update, meeting, implementation and follow through
  10. Carries out risk assessment of every phase of the implementation
  11. Ensures that objective and time line of the project are met
  12. Ensures that smooth implementation/transition is made for a smooth run of the project
  13. Use IT or other systems to keep track of people and progress
  14. Coordinate with Vendor Management Team and / or COOP Supervisor to ensure guidelines are maintained during implementation of the project
  15. Oversees the accounting, costing and billing
  16. Updates to the client or senior stakeholders on progress
  17. Evaluates the success of the project against its benchmarking and sharing lessons or best practice with other organisations or project managers
  18. Provides input and support for full systems life cycle management activities (e.g., analyses, technical requirements, design, coding, testing, implementation of systems and applications software, etc.).
  19. Performs tasks within planned durations and established deadlines.
  20. Collaborates with teams to ensure effective communication in supporting the achievement of objectives.
  21. Provides knowledge, development, maintenance, and support for applications.
  22. Work closely with the business units to gain in-depth understanding of customer’s business, processes and services and document functional user requirements and facilitate their IT implementations through the project life cycle.
  23. Act as a mediator between business, IT solutions and test teams.
  24. Coordinates with Solution Service Provider

Minimum Qualifications

Any Bachelors degree; Industrial Engineering and /or Industrial Management; with lean/ six sigma or any project management certification will be an advantage

    • Experience in a logistics, 3PL, distribution setup will be an advantage
    • Experience in NAV ERP or equivalent will be an advantage
    • Experience in Manhattan Associates or JDA or INFOR or any major supply chain/logistics solution provider will be an advantage
    • 2-5 years experience in a project lead role implementing similar WMS solution and any warehouse and logistics productivity system that involves warehouse order management and processes--inbound, put away, pick/pack, outbound
    • Lead experience in using any established project management methodology
