Job Description
The Plant Electrical technician is responsible in maintaining the plant's electrical system and its auxiliaries to its Optimum Operating Capacity by performing Preventive and Corrective Maintenance activities and other programs as part of the quality management system to ensure reliable, maximum efficiency and safe operation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs preventive and corrective maintenance activities on plant electrical system, process controllers and electrical equipment ensuring the efficient running and prolonged service life of the machines and equipment.
- Assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning equipment and systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as mega-ohmmeters, voltmeters/clamp meter tester to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
- Assists in supervision of contractors in performance of electrical contracted works ensuring quality workmanship and specification.
- Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and Philippine Electrical Code.
- Directs and trains workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Prepares wiring diagram and cost estimate for any improvements pertaining to Electrical system and components
- Installs ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors and other equipment.
- Performs business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing of data regarding Feedmill energy consumptions.
- Places conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
- Provides assistance during emergencies calls day or night requiring expertise during trouble.
- Compliance with 5'S activities,ISO 9001:2008 & HACCP.
- Recommends and suggests improvements “KAIZEN” as part of Department Quality Improvements activities.
OTHER TASK:
- Safety Management
- Monitors plant electrical load and power factor and ensure that plant electrical usage does not exceed the maximum load threshold.
- Equipment Safety
- Conducts routine inspection of electrical equipment in operation, checks equipment operating parameters as prescribed and initiates corrective measures on any abnormality.
- Troubleshooting
- Conducts problem solving activities on causes and corrective measures for electrical-electronics variances. Solicits the advice of Maintenance Supervisor for problems that remain unsolved.
- Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work - Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of BS Electrical Engineering or BS Electronics & Communications Engineering
- Registered Master Electrician (liscensed)
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Preferably with at least three (3) years work experience in related field
CRITICAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Working knowledge of instrumentation technology; electrical/electronics circuit design, trouble shooting and repair; and pneumatics and electro-pneumatic control system trouble shooting
- Knowledge and understanding of plant technology
- Familiarity with PLC and other electronic device analysis and trouble shooting
- Ability to interpret working drawing plans
