Job Description
- Registers and screens blood donors in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Gathers demographic data and takes the medical history;
- Takes the weight, hemoglobin and blood type
- Makes an initial assessment of whether or not to accept/defer blood donors.
- Promotes voluntary blood donation among clients (patients, relatives, etc.)
- Evaluates validity and completeness of information contained in blood request/s.
- Determines the quantity of blood to be served taking into consideration blood availability and urgency of the request.
- Evaluates authenticity of donor’s cards.
- Maintains records on blood served and unserved including deferred donors.
- Monitors progress of activities related to a memorandum of agreement made with groups and indigent patients.
- Encodes data on blood requests.
- Give orientation and supervision to medical technology interns, trainees and volunteers assigned at the reception
- Assists in blood extraction as maybe required from time to time.
- Maintains the upkeep of the reception and adjacent areas.
- Attends to clients in need of blood and blood products; answers telephone calls and entertain queries.
- Performs others duties as maybe assigned by Superiors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Must be a registered Nurse
- Minimum 2-year work related experience
- Computer literacy
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Excellent organizational ability
- Strong analytical and planning skills
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
