Responsibilities

I. Translation

• Relay concepts and capture nuances from the source language into the target language.
• Be knowledgeable and sensitive in your use of language. Convey ideas or attitudes that may be misconstrued or lost in translation due to cultural differences.

II. Interviews

• Finds presents many different opportunities to meet and interview people from all around the world. Confidently conduct interviews in Mandarin and extract as much information as possible during interviews.
• Translate interviews into English without losing any of the original meaning.
• Compile information from interviews to help our writers with their output.

III. Research

• Research and translate information only available in Mandarin into English.
• Conduct research on locals’ recommendations and compile information for our writers.
• Check that the information in our write-ups is correct and updated.

Optional Responsibilities

I. City Management

• Manage, oversee, and keep track of the progress of the cities we cover.

• Must be fluent in written and verbal English and Mandarin (Putonghua)
• Bachelor’s Degree in any four-year course, preferably in the Humanities or Liberal Arts

Bonus Qualifications

• Certification from interpreting societies/organizations
• With formal or informal working experience (ex. Volunteer work in humanitarian organizations, hospitals, or tour guide companies)
