Junior Writer

Where Finds discovers its voice

Our writers give voice to locals all over the world by breathing life into their recommendations. Your job is to use vibrant, succinct language to inspire wanderlust in our readers. You will interview locals, find out their favorite spots in their city, and write about their recommendations in a first person voice.

You are writing for an audience of 21-39 year old working adults. Make sure you excite them with your passion! Be concise—you are writing for a mobile device. By the end of your write-up, we should be salivating at the thought of visiting the place you’ve written about.

Responsibilities

I. Writing

• While Finds has its own identity, we encourage every writer to let their voice shine through in their write-ups. We value creativity as much as skill.
  • Make sure your language packs a punch. We want to remain smart, punchy, and dynamic to draw the reader in with our language.
  • Expect to write several pieces per day. Learn to adapt your unique tone and style to our branding.
  • Keep an open mind and value the team’s feedback. Prepare for an environment that promotes constructive criticism to learn and grow as a writer.
  • We are goal-based, not time-based. While you will have your own targets, everything we do is for the benefit of the team and our collective milestones.

II. Research

• Research plays an integral part in our writing process. Along with insights from our locals, your research will inform you the specifics of a place’s features and characteristics.
  • Integrate your research seamlessly with tips from locals for a fully fleshed-out write-up.
  • Verify that all information in your write-up is correct, from a restaurant’s specialties to their opening hours.

Optional Responsibilities

I. City Management

• Manage, oversee, and keep track of the progress of the cities we cover.

II. Interviews

• Extract information about locals’ recommendations to help you with your write-ups.
  • Know how to ask the right questions to gather information from highly-regarded locals from all over the world.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in English, Creative Writing, Communications or related courses
• Excellent command of the English language
• Professional or academic experience in writing and editing
• Interested in travel and exploring cities worldwide

Bonus Qualifications

• Excellent interviewing skills
