Research and Development Specialist  

Oro Filipinas is looking for a Research and Development Specialist to spearhead product innovation, from assessing market needs to the development and delivery of premium chocolate products that meet our quality and food safety standards.

The R&D Specialist will report directly to the Plant Manager and be in charge of the following:

• Manage new product development projects from recipe creation to lab prototype and then to an industrial product.
• Operate laboratory and analytical equipment for the trials and testing.
• Coordinate logistics for raw materials and sample delivery/acquisition.
• Assist in the performance of standard physical and chemical testing on all raw and finished products.
• Develop, review and maintain accurate food labeling information, assuring compliance with leading regulations, such as FDA, USDA and EU, on labeling information and compliance (ex. nutrition, ingredient statements, allergens, claims, import/export).
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current international regulations and relevant technical product and processing information.
• Complete and submit documentation to support regulatory requirements and claims.
• Assist in LTO and CPR processing.

• 3+ years of professional experience in Research and Development at a food manufacturing facility, experience in a confectionary a plus;
• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related technical field;
• Knowledge of and experience with FDA, HACCP, GMP and/or ISO 22000;
• Knowledge of basic statistics;
• Desire and ability to understand the principles and application of cocoa/chocolate science;
• Strong written and verbal communication, effective organization, ability to work independently and collaboratively, basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
