Job Description
Makerspace Manila Mentors are among the most respected, talented, and well-read intellectuals of the makerspace. Patrons of all ages look to these mentors for guidance, tips, and training. Our mentors therefore --
- Exude an aura of respect and wisdom with a mix of fun and absolute cool. They embody the maker culture.
- Are always ready to share knowledge. In fact, the Makerspace Mentor's role is to teach patrons maker skills and techniques, facilitate project discussions, speak at schools and organizations about the maker movement, and conduct workshops in and out of the makerspace year-round. Mentors will be working with all a wide range of ages from 4 years old to senior citizens.
- Are attuned to the learning needs of students. Makerspace Mentors are required to complete an assessment form after every workshop, per student, in order to monitor progress on an individual basis.
- Are infinitely hungry to learn and grow, especially in the maker sense. Makerspace Mentors are therefore directly responsible for continuous learning, research, and development. At pre-arranged intervals, mentors are asked to present R&D initiatives.
- Set the example as role models for students and educators alike.
Minimum Qualifications
NOTE: THIS POSITION IS FOR MAKERSPACE MANILA, THE RETAIL OPERATIONS OF NYMBUS STRATEGIC INC.
The Makerspace Mentor has one mission -- to herald in 21st century learning through loads and loads of making by way of skills training and workshops, talks and lectures, and collaboration with schools and fellow educators.
- College graduate in a related field.
- At least with 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrates any maker skill.
- MS Office and iWork skills.
- Strong analytical and planning skills.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Mac user and graphic designer is a plus.
- Familiarity with basic electronics, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or software development is also a plus!
- Willing to work at Ayala Malls Solenad 3, Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna (w/ occasional local travel for offsite events).
