Makerspace Facilitator  

This position is for Makerspace Manila, the retail operations of Nymbus Strategic Inc.

As a Makerspace Facilitator, you are the host of every event and the maestro of every program held at Makerspace Manila. This means —

• You have exceptional planning, communication, and collaborative skills especially as you will be working with teams in making sure the makerspace is in tip-top shape.
• You are clean, hygienic, and organized to a fault. This translates to you being in charge of the upkeep of the makerspace, the organization, and maintenance of tools and equipment.
• You possess a can-do attitude and relish every opportunity, every challenge. This becomes particularly handy during project builds with students and clients, wherein you will sometimes be asked to assist.
• You are in your element when working the room and talking to both small and large crowds. Part of your role will be to explain to guests what the makerspace is all about, even conduct workshops of your own in due time.
• You enjoy getting your hands dirty and absolutely walks the talk. Every maker of ours is a doer. You won't simply be teaching theory, you will be teaching by example and by the application. You will be making projects along with your students.
• You are congenial, have impeccable taste and style, and commands the use of English well (no nosebleeds!). We are not only a makerspace, we are also a human-centric design firm and therefore being a designer should translate in the way we carry ourselves and talk to others.
• You enjoy working with children, not just adults. Oftentimes the workshops that you will be part of involved children of various ages, some as young as 4 years of age.
• You are an effective communicator and salesperson. Here you will be selling our products and services to patrons and guests.

All the above in an environment of:

• MESS. We do a lot of making activities, after all. You need to grab the mess by the horns or it’ll overwhelm you!
• ITEMS AND MORE ITEMS. Hundreds if not thousands of items for inventory monitoring, tinkering, and maintenance (oh, nuts, bolts, hand tools, electronic components and whatnot);
• MAKERS. Animated, young, old, aged, with special needs, beginners, and experts to attend to and service; and
• CONSISTENCY. In varying degrees, this is your role every day, all day.

Seems overwhelming? Not really. If you’ve thrown a big party before, then you’re in good company. Oh and some other qualifications —

• You must be a college graduate
• 2-years’ relevant work experience recommended, but not required
• Demonstration of any maker skill
• Got skills in MS Office / iWork
• Mac user and graphic designer a plus!
• Teaching experience, an even bigger plus!
