Job Description

Tasks

  • Draws up legal contracts and reviews contracts whether the same be for internal business purposes, with third parties, or for programs and projects made available to the public.
  • Does research, interprets laws, rulings, regulations, and guidelines and renders advise to the foundation to ensure adherence.
  • Handles correspondence regarding legal issues.
  • Maintains a network and confers with colleagues with specializations in particular areas of the law.
  • Identifies potential legal and related risks and develops mitigating strategies.
  • Provides updates and reports to the ED, internal committees, partners, and the Board on a regular basis on relevant legal issues.
  • Develops and updates policies relating to corporate governance and regulatory affairs and ensuring compliance with applicable laws.

Functional Competencies

  • Provides information that is not directly involved in the deviation but may be affected with the potential solutions identified to resolve the situation or arrive at a solution.
  • Recommends changes in policies, processes,`- or procedures in coming up with the best possible solution to a problem.
  • Conducts comprehensive legal research on a range of issues, including those of a unique and/or complex nature.
  • Presents and clarifies to stakeholders, in and out of the NPF, the appropriate interpretation of policies and guidelines.
  • Conducts due diligence to ensure that all contracts and agreements entered into by the foundation serve the NPF’s best interests.
  • Demonstrates professional competence and mastery of legal matters.

  • Devises systems to monitor and control detailed information accurately and adequately.
  • Informs affected internal/external clients and partners of changes in a timely manner.

  • Meets with department heads and listens to their perspective on organizational policies and procedures.
  • Communicates and encourages adherence to policies and guidelines through conferences, fora, focus group discussions, meetings and other related events.

Communications

  • Uses appropriate and context-sensitive communication mechanisms, varying the language, tone, content and style to influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Sets guidelines, ethical standards, and direction to communicate zero-tolerance to gender biases, discriminatory and exclusionary behavior to build a collaborative and inclusive culture (e.g. there is space for growth and development of vulnerable and marginalized groups including women, persons with disabilities, senior citizens and indigenous peoples).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of Bachelor of Law.
  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • 8 hours of relevant training.
  • Passed the Integrated Bar of the Philippines examination (RA1080).
