Job Description
As Head of the Legal and Tax Department, the Chief Legal Counsel is primarily responsible for the legal and tax affairs of the entire organization. This includes:
- Corporate Housekeeping. He/She will serve as Corporate Secretary for Globe Fintech Innovations, Inc. (Mynt) and each of its subsidiaries, ensure the integrity of Mynt’s governance framework and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and implement decisions made by the Board of Directors.
- Leadership and People Development. He/She is in charge of establishing an in-house unit of professionals to provide legal and tax assistance to the organization, and overseeing the delivery of services and resources to accomplish corporate goals, strategies and priorities.
- Business Enablement. He/She is tasked to develop and implement strategic initiatives to promote the organization’s objectives. He/She shall advise the Board of Directors, CEO and Senior Management on a broad range of legal and tax issues, including anticipating and mitigating potential areas of risk within the organization and making suggestions for improvement.
- Contracts Management. He/She is in charge of reviewing and negotiating contracts as well as maintaining product conditions (e.g. Terms and Conditions) across the organization.
- Relationship Management. He/She is expected to cultivate and maintain proper corporate interactions with relevant local and national governmental bodies, legislatures and the community at large. He/She shall also coordinate and manage the external counsel on matters related to corporate housekeeping, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, labor and litigation.
Minimum Qualifications
The Senior Counsel must:
- Hold licenses to practice as a Lawyer and a Certified Public Accountant in the Philippines, with at least 15 years working experience in a major law firm or corporate legal department where he/she has held positions of advancing responsibility;
- Possess superior written and oral communication skills;
- Exhibit strong initiative as well as excellent management, teamwork, delegation and problem-solving skills; and
- Have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
