Job Description

MoneyGeek is looking for long-term partners with strong editorial and quality assurance (QA) skills to load, validate and publish web pages using a customized content management system (CMS).

You’ll be expected to create web pages, so experience with a CMS required. We will train you on any HTML skills required for success. Our CMS uses customizable components—you won’t need to do any coding by hand, but knowing how HTML works will give you an advantage.

A significant part of this process involves proofreading content, ensuring it meets predefined technical standards (quality control), checking links and serving as the final quality auditor before material goes live on the web. You might need to make changes to content written in English, so comfort working with language for U.S. audiences, style guides and a knowledge of AP style is important.

We require applicants to complete a paid initial screening assessment before undergoing interviews.

When work starts, you’ll complete a trial period of 5-10 publishing assignments and will be paid per assignment. If you are a good fit for the role, you’ll transition to an ongoing 40-hour per-week freelance contract with benefits including:

  • A maximum of 15 paid days off, which accrue based on start date
  • 8 national paid holidays, of your choosing, throughout the year
  • Bonus paid in December (20% of December’s monthly pay)

We are an international team of writers, editors and content managers, so the ability to communicate effectively and a proactive attitude are a must. Our projects are managed through Asana.

This contract role is fully remote and offers flexible hours — you can work when and where you want, as long as you meet our deadlines and are responsive to emails or other communications.

Expectations:

  • Produce high-quality web pages using templates within a CMS
  • When instructed, reorganize the way content is displayed on a page so that it’s easier to read and more visually appealing
  • Proofread content for grammatical accuracy
  • Add basic HTML styling when necessary including links, unordered lists, etc.
  • Assist with quality assurance and reviewing pages loaded into the CMS by other team members
  • Identify, report and follow-up on page errors, including incorrect or missing data, tables, links and design elements
  • Ensure that all materials in the content are complete based on detailed strategic outlines
  • Make changes to content if required to enhance final product quality
  • Provide feedback to team members to help improve the validation and publishing process over time
  • Respond in a timely manner to assignments with a sensitivity for deadlines set by the organization

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications or a related field where a demonstrated command of the English language is required
  • Experience editing web content at high volume
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Experience publishing web content through a CMS
  • Basic knowledge of financial topics geared toward U.S. audiences
  • A sharp eye for small details in data-heavy content with many references
  • A willingness to learn new topics, like basic HTML

** Experience with Asana is a plus.
