Job Description
MoneyGeek is seeking long-term partners who can edit quality, well-researched content about insurance, mortgage, loans, credit cards, financial planning, taxes, etc. for U.S. readers.
The editor is responsible for proofreading, fact-checking and reviewing content for accuracy, AP style, grammar, tone and concision.
This is a full-time, freelance position requiring 40 hours of work per week.
Expectations:
- Review English content about personal finance for U.S.-based audiences
- Proofread content for grammatical accuracy
- Edit web content for tone and concision
- Fact-check content by researching topics and reviewing provided data
- Apply AP style to long-form content
- Maintain consistent quality across multiple pages
- Identify and prevent duplicate content and plagiarism
- Ensure that all materials are complete based on detailed instructions and outlines
- Provide feedback to writers
- Responsive on email/messages
- Consistently hits deadlines

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Linguistics/Languages, Communications, Advertising, Marketing, Media or equivalent
- Experience editing web content
- Knowledge of AP style
- Experience editing personal finance or other similar content; ability to distill complex topics into easily understood content
- Can write and edit in 100% clear, fluent English
- Ability to consistently produce and edit high-quality content
- Has basic knowledge of financial topics in U.S. setting
- Can deliver multiple edits articles within a deadline (usually a weekly deadline)
- Teachable and eager to learn
- Familiar with Google Workplace tools (docs, sheets, etc)
