Instrumentation and Controls Technician

The Instrumentation and Controls Technician is responsible for performing routine trouble shooting, maintenance, installation and integration of various types of process control instrumentation equipment such as transmitters, controllers, integrators, recorders, HMI and final drive elements. Make corrective and preventive maintenance to electro-mechanical control circuits.

Your scope of responsibility shall include:

• Uses technical knowledge in trouble shooting skills to maintain the manufacturing equipment systems;
• Takes appropriate measures when needed to prevent failures by observing and listening to electro-mechanical devices in operation;
• Field fault analysis - determines if instrument has failed or if it is a process problem;
• Follows diagrams, sketches, operations' manual, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions;
• Field calibration of instrumentation utilizing proper test equipment;
• Complete overhaul in shop environment to include component replacements, alignments, and calibration to specifications of record;
• Repair of signal transmission facility such as tubing, wiring, instrumentation to include pneumatic, electronic and digital equipment, etc.;
• Fault analysis of hardwire relay logic, motor control circuits, motor power circuits and common utility / lighting circuits;
• Installation of new control circuits, modification of existing instrument/electrical systems as requested, to include design, load and implementation of new control logic;
• Fault analysis of PLC based systems with control logic modification if required;
• Interacts with production group for support with setup repair items as needed;
• Observes appropriately safety measures to maintain and promote a safe work environment;
• Suggests improvements based on know experienced component failure or reliability;
• Modifies PM's to equipment based on findings during repair or preventive tasks when appropriate;
• Performs detailed analysis and recommends repair solutions when equipment is not performing up to expectations;
• Performs assessment of maintenance-related repairs in assigned area and keep procedures up-to-date to optimize procedures;
• Provides support for opposing shift, as may be needed, on maintenance related activity or projects;
• Complete preventive maintenance and repair work orders and procedures;
• Maintains daily activity logs and provides shift summary of daily events through turnover logbook or email;
• Imparts any newly-learned discoveries pertinent to repair or troubleshooting techniques that will assist team to react more efficiently and safely;
• Attends trainings on food/personal safety and food regulation;
• Attends trainings provided by management;
• Keeps superior informed of progress in assigned tasks;
• Reports to work as required under emergency conditions;
• Performs other tasks as may be required.

• Candidate must be a college graduate or its equivalent with certificate from a vocational/technical school
• With at least 3 years of experience in maintenance or other related technical training preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and well-versed in troubleshooting industrial equipment.
• Must have the ability to interpret schematic drawings (to component level) of pneumatic loops, hardware relay logic diagrams, PLC control programs, instrumentations, motor control circuit diagrams, etc. Must associate circuit symbols with actual components to include solid state electronics (transistors, integrated chips, resistors, capacitors, etc.) and common industrial electrical hardware (relays, contractors, starters, etc).
• Has undergone short courses on Electrical Wiring Installation and Troubleshooting, Pneumatics and Electro-mechanical
