Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the General Manager, presents a comprehensive portrayal of the organization’s operations and financial conditions with the use of various reports and analysis, highlighting the areas where improvements can be made while in strict compliance with internal and financial controls, accounting standards and accountability of assets in strict compliance with approved policies and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management/ Fund Management

  • Maintains accounting policies and procedures and recommends changes for improvement
  • Maintains and grow banking relationships
  • Ensures that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational requirements of each branch
  • Oversees the operation of the treasury and accounting department

Financial Reporting

  • Procedures periodic financial reports
  • Produces reports related to budgets, account payables, account receivables, expenses etc. in a timely manner

Financial Analysis

  • Interprets the company’s financial results to management and recommend improvement activities
  • Engages in beach marking studies to establish areas of potential operational improvement
  • Engages in ongoing cost reduction analyses in all areas of the company
  • Creates additional analyses and reports as requested by the management

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicates with top management and BOD, the result of the organization’s operations and financial condition thru various accounting & finance related reports for strategic decisions on areas of concerns or issues.
  • Reviews the financial analysis & reports prepared by the Department’s team by comparing previous data and against budget to highlight areas requiring more detailed review and explanation.
  • Leads the organization in the annual preparation of the budget and planning process by conducting a series of meetings and workshops to finish the process on time.
  • Takes initiatives to review and update the existing internal control mechanism in response to the changing needs and times by introduction of new policies and simpler control procedures.
  • Manages organization’s cash flow and forecasting by implementing a pro-active financial management reporting system and strict adherence to schedules to support operational requirements and efficient fund management.
  • Makes sure that the department is in full compliance with the requirements of the organization’s system by random checks and validation procedures for accuracy and reliability.
  • Closely coordinates with external entities, e.g. external auditors, lawyers, etc. for possible cases requiring legal actions and litigation to protect organization’s interest.
  • Creates a working atmosphere within the department that is conducive to work excellence by engaging team members and providing guidance and mentoring to enhance competencies.
  • Updates oneself with the latest accounting & finance management trends and development by subscribing to relevant professional journals and attendance to conferences/conventions.
  • Represents the organization in meetings, conventions and other official functions with banks, funding agencies, govt offices/agencies, judiciary courts, etc.
  • Ensures the efficient provision of administrative support given by administration personnel by giving them instructions and directives to anticipate requirements.
  • Performs other task and functions which may be required of the position by the immediate superior from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Must have at least 10 years working experience in General Accounting/Bookkeeping
  • Proficient in MS Office and Accounting Software preferably Navision
  • With analytical and data entry skills
  • Systems development and finance systems experience
  • Must possess confidentiality, independence, and professional competence
  • Strong analytical and planning skills;
  • Good communication and presentation skills;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
