Job Description
M2.0 Communications, is looking for a creative, outgoing, results-driven, and commercially astute Business Development Manager who will focus on creating event and event=related products and driving business to the agency.
The business development manager is accountable for building the event unit’s product development roadmap. As such, she or he is expected to work with clients to create recurring events and activities aimed at delivering key outcomes for our customers while generating revenue for the agency.
The business development manager is also expected to achieve quarterly sales targets as a means of tracking event product performance. As an expert in the events industry, the business development manager should have an excellent understanding of the role and value of events in supporting lead generation, nurture and sales enablement programs. The manager’s awareness, knowledge and insight of the latest event trends and innovations will be critical to success, alongside recommendations on how these factors could impact or improve client programs and the event unit’s value proposition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and develop the events unit growth plan by identifying commercial objectives, strategy, tactics, potential risks, industry opportunities and measureable KPIs that will enable revenue growth for the unit
- Take the lead role in developing a new events value-proposition showcasing our suite of event services, pricing model and competitive advantage
- Create a new suite of sales tools to help sell the proposition – video show reels, credentials, case studies, website page, blogs, and social content.
- Work alongside Marketing Manager to pitch our new proposition to prospects and customers to generate interest and new business opportunities. This includes the development and launch of an engaging lead generation campaign in 2017.
- Take a lead role in presenting our new event credentials in a confident, clear and persuasive way, and advise on how aspects of M2Comms integrated proposition (including digital, social and content) can be deployed alongside events to achieve clients’ business objectives
- Take the lead in event-related RFP and pitch opportunities (with support from key senior colleagues)
- Build strong working relationships with key client contacts at a senior and strategic level to earn more about their event needs and challenges, gaining mutual trust and respect
Minimum Qualifications
Experience and Skills Required
- 3+ years successful event management experience, planning and running mid-large B2B corporate or B2C events – conferences, breakfast briefings, VIP dinners, exhibitions, roadshows, etc.
- Exceptional project direction and management skills, ability to manage multiple timelines, deadlines, actions in a fast-paced environment
- Solid client management experience; confident in building relationships and pitching new ideas to senior stakeholders
- Excellent problem-solving skills, able to come up with solutions and overcome obstacles
- Open, honest and direct – is comfortable in giving and receiving constructive feedback
- Passionate about achieving business success and driving account improvement.
