Job Description

Under the leadership of and reporting to the Content Director, the Content Writer will design and conduct content development, branch research, and data banking for all communications campaigns assigned to them.

The Content Writer is expected to review and understand our clients’ creative and communications briefs and generate original copy ideas that will be compelling to the appropriate audience. This includes producing taglines, slogans, body copy, scripts, talking points, press releases, feature articles and online content.

The content writer will also be required to collect the necessary data for concept development and content production through interviews, coverage, online or offline research and/or some other appropriate means.

Usually working on multiple projects, the tasks assigned to the content writer includes the following.

  • Meeting with Account Managers to discuss the client’s requirements and core messages
  • Familiarizing themselves with the relevant product, target audience and competitor’s activities in the market.
  • Brainstorming ideas and concepts for the visual and words with other members of the creative team
  • Writing various copy options, which may be presented to the client
  • Modifying copy as directed by the Strategic Planner until final approval from the client is given.

Responsibilities and expected behaviors:

  • Meet deadlines without sacrificing quality of work output
  • Participate actively in team activities like learning groups, meetings, brainstorming and story conferences
  • Develop mastery of the skills of writing and maintaining originality of the style and idiolect
  • Verify the factual content of the written work
  • Conduct interviews with the people either face to face, over the telephone or by email
  • Submit material for publication in the required and expected format
  • Maintain an active interest in the specific beat assigned to her
  • Encourage and act upon critical feedback in the most appropriate manner
  • Show preparedness to rewrite and revise work following feedback
  • Liaise with the Account Managers and client contacts for content development
  • Find, pursue and maintain opportunities to link with the content providers industry
  • Welcome coaching from the Content Editor and/or Content & Strategy Director.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor's/College degree in Journalism, Business Studies, Business Administration, Business Management, Mass Communications, or its equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of work experience in the related field.
  • Must be skilled at creative thinking and problem-solving.
  • Must be a self-starter with a can-do attitude.
  • Can develop relationships quickly and successfully.
  • Aptitude and enthusiasm to learn M2.0’s values are critical.
