Job Description
JOB OBJECTIVE:
- Assist the Head of Operations Risk Management Department in coordinating, driving and directing operational risk management across the bank / enterprise-wide.
- Proposes and advises in the implementation of controls within the business units to meet all regulatory and internal requirements.
- Ensures proper functioning of day-to-day control, periodic monitoring activities and timely resolution of departmental directives issued by the Board, Management and other control units.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as source reference for the business / support unit in facilitating and promoting the understanding of Operational Risk requirements.
- Facilitates the implementation of operational risk initiatives.
- Proactively communicates with the Department and Group Heads on operational risk issues.
- Escalates significant events as appropriate.
- Provides inputs in designing and implementing control measures and monitoring plans for operational risk management.
- Reviews operating business processes with a view to provide value added feedback on Operational Risk for improvement.
- Reviews new products, service offerings and other new initiatives in terms of operations risk.
- Provides assistance or advice to the business / support functional units in analysis and resolution of risk events and effects.
- Monitors and analyzes collection of Loss Event Data, Risk and Control Assessment and Key Risk Indicators in the ORM solution.
- Conducts training on improving the operational risk management within the business / support units.
- Provides support and guidance to business /support units heads and Functional Risk Advocates in the use of operational risk tools and ORM solution.
- Conducts research and drafts, either new or improved existing operational risk policies, tools and framework for the Bank.
- Prepares operational risk reports for senior management and Board's Risk Oversight Committee as assigned by the Head – Operational Risk Management Department.
- Supports or facilitates regular meeting of ORM Working Committee / Functional Risk Advocates.
- Supports the development and maintenance of operational risk database and system.
Budget & Planning
- Determines appropriate staffing requirements to ensure effective and optimal use of manpower.
- Monitors and reviews the Department's overall Operating Expenses against target.
- Approves, disapproves requests for payment amounting to less than 100K
Operational Efficiency
- Develops and implements strategies/business plans for the department and ensures that these are aligned to the Bank’s vision, mission, values and organizational strategies.
- Meets with and discusses with the department the business directions, priority projects, manpower requirements, audit observations / findings and other concerns.
- Approves leave applications, overtime and transfers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree holder
- Must have exposure in various functions in a bank and with practical project management experience
- Must have at least 2 years of experience in Operational Risk Management, Internal Audit or any risk and control related Consultancy Engagements.
- Must be adept in Risk Management Methodologies and Practices
- Must be familiar with local and international regulatory policies and standards
- Leadership skills to induce colleagues' participation to meet shared objectives
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Compliance and Business Process Review skills
- Knowledgeable in Project Management and Development
- Technical writing skills (Policy formulation)
- Facilitation Skills (Meetings and Trainings)
- Strong problem solving skills to address issues and identify mitigating actions
- Computer Competence (MS Applications)
