Job Description

The Head of Fx Sales directs the marketing and consummation of foreign currency trading operations geared towards the achievement of profitable gains in accordance with governing procedures, policies, and standards at corporate and statutory levels. He/she directs the settlement of trading activities, liaises with traders, brokers, clients and bank representatives, and analyses daily trading results, among others. Other responsibilities are as follows:

  • Markets the Company’s foreign currency services at profitable buying and selling levels, creates a satisfied database of active clients, explores new business opportunities and improves services towards customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures the consummation of foreign exchange transactions through efficient documentation, monitoring and reporting of trading transactions.
  • Directs the use of information technology tools to facilitate consummation of trading transactions and make available accurate and timely data for business decision-making.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the division to ensure timely and efficient response to internal and external customers, the coaching and development of team and consistency of daily operations with divisional and corporate strategies, individual targets and operational budget.
  • Trades foreign denominated currencies on a daily basis.
  • Promotes foreign currency services, explores potential clients and establishes business relationships for both individual and corporate accounts.
  • Regularly conducts market research and analysis of foreign currencies, global business trends, economic indicators, fiscal policies, political situations that may impact on foreign currency pricing and profitability.
  • Analyzes FX Profit & Loss on a daily basis.
  • Develops policies and procedures that will:
    • Govern trading and documentation.
    • Control and measure risks on trading, exposure, counterparty, and gap limits.
    • Monitor earnings or capital at risk or value at risk assumptions, calculations, and limits.
    • Institutionalize:
      • Market-to-market policies and procedures.
      • Internal control system and system of financial and regulatory reporting.
  • Directs the implementation of a daily cash position reporting and monitoring and the determination of liquidity forecasts through the utilization of a treasury workstation in combination with internet trading platforms and data supplied by banks.
  • Analyzes regulatory issues to consider from governing bodies such as the central bank for FX trading reporting requirements.
  • Directs the maximization of foreign currency receipts/collections from foreign offices, subsidiaries and affiliates in terms of usage/application.
  • Directs the institutionalization of policies and procedures for the effective management and administration of foreign currency receipts, disbursements, and proper recognition of bank service charges on NOSTRO accounts.
  • Accounts for the currency exposures on a per currency basis through its Multi-Currency Subsidiary Ledger.
  • Directs related systems development and getting involved with projects that affect Treasury.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 2-3 years of work experience in a managerial role from a finance or finance-related industry.
  • Has been involved in financial products and services such as:
    • Financial Management
    • Treasury Management
    • Budget Management
    • Foreign Currency Trading
    • Strategic Planning
  • Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship.
  • Has the following:
    • Commitment to the organization.
    • Strategic vision.
    • Good, independent judgment.
  • Proficient in oral and written communication, computer literate, self-starter, assertive and with good business acumen.
  • Top level business management, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong leadership and consensus building skills
  • Skills to analyze proposals and examine their financial consequences.
  • Ability to think creatively.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Preparedness to make unpopular recommendations to the board.
  • Integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.
  • Willing to devote the necessary time and effort.
  • Willing to speak their mind.
  • Willing to be available to staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis.
