Job Description
Essential Functions:
1) Evaluate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS and/or E&M codes and coding processes as appropriate, in accordance with LexiCode negotiated engagements, for nationwide healthcare providers, who are clients of LexiCode. Develop accompanying recommendations, corrective action and implementation plans. These evaluations are based on the employee’s interpretation of patient documentation and supporting information, furnished by the Client. Interpretations are made in accordance with official CMS approved (AHA and AMA) coding guidelines and other parameters that might be furnished by the Client. This function is accomplished in a prompt and reasonable timeframe in accordance with productivity and accuracy standards found in the Employee Handbook or designated based on specific engagement requirements.
2) Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS and/or E&M codes as appropriate, in accordance with LexiCode negotiated engagements, for nationwide healthcare providers, who are clients of LexiCode. These code assignments are based on the employee’s interpretation of patient documentation, furnished by the Client. Interpretation is made in accordance with official CMS approved (AHA and AMA) coding guidelines. This function is accomplished in a prompt and reasonable timeframe in accordance with productivity and accuracy standards found in the Employee Handbook or designated based on specific engagement requirements.
3) Maintain and build professional relationship with clients and client employees. Respond to Client inquiries and questions regarding performance during and possibly after the engagement.
4) Participate in the supervision of a Client engagement, under the mentoring of senior management staff. Promote LexiCode to clients and fellow employees as appropriate.
5) Update skill and knowledge levels in accordance with CMS approved (AHA and AMA) coding changes.
6) Complies with confidentiality standards, including HIPAA privacy regulations, found in the Employee Handbook.
Minimum Qualifications
- Required Credential and Experience: 3-5 years of CDI Coding and/or Auditing experience and a high level of coding skill and knowledge in area of expertise
- Completion of an AHIMA accredited RHIA or RHIT program are highly preferred and desired.
- Other scholastic accomplishments of a healthcare nature will be considered.
Required Licenses and Certificates:
- RHIA, RHIT or CCS credentials are highly preferred and desired
- Other credentials of a healthcare nature will be considered
Working Conditions:
- Job may require various in-office conditions included but not limited to: sitting and performing job at varying work stations; utilizing various computers and programs; complying with internal client policy and procedures.
- Job requires minimal travel and related conditions including but not limited to: lifting, carrying luggage and work related packages considerable distances; access to a reliable personal vehicle; ability to independently operate an automobile; flying in various type of airplanes; residing in moderate overnight accommodations.
