Job Description
- Responsible for monitoring and implementation of the production plan as devised by the Production Manager. This includes ensuring that sections operate at expected performance levels in terms of safety, quality, cost effectiveness, efficiency and productivity.
- Ensures that production section operations are conducted in a safe, accident-free, environmentally sound and healthy workplace. This includes; ensuring that shift employees conform to plant safety regulations and encouraging the reporting of safety incidents and near-misses.
- Supervises the plant’s process operators. Identifies and recommends the training needs of operators, carries out performance appraisals and ensures that sufficient personnel support is given that will allow the effective and efficient execution of tasks. Catalysts for encouraging employee participation and involvement in continuous improvement programs such as the IAF and CIP.
- Ensures that plant operations are efficient and in line with Department Targets (APIs); and compliant with other Quality and Productivity Standards such as ISO9001, ISO22000, HACCP and GMP.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree
- Knowledge in computers, SAP, food science, chemistry, and math is desirable
- General knowledge of carrageenan processes
- Minimum five years experience in IT related jobs and/or hydrocolloids production
- Experienced with SAP system, or other similar manufacturing systems
- Competent in the use of spreadsheets ie Microsoft Excel
