Job Description
A Site Engineer is part of the site management team and takes some of the responsibility for security, health and safety, and organizing and supervising materials and people. Site Engineers mark out the site, make sure designs are applied correctly and liaise with main and sub-contractors and the site manager. Regularly liaise with the client, its representatives, and any consultants is another key part of the job.
Key tasks of the job are as follows:
- Manage parts of construction projects.
- Oversee building work.
- Undertake surveys.
- Set out sites and organizing facilities.
- Check technical designs and drawings to ensure that they are followed correctly.
- Supervise contracted staff.
- Ensure projects meet agreed specifications, budgets, or timescales.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors and other professional staff, especially Quantity Surveyor and the overall Project Manager.
- Provide technical advice and solving problems on site.
- Prepare site reports and filling in other paperwork.
- Liaise with Quantity Surveyors about the ordering and negotiating the price of materials.
- Ensure that health and safety and sustainability policies and legislation are adhered to.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS Civil Engineering graduate.
- Board Passer.
- 10 years of work experience in the same discipline.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in the English language, both oral and written.
- Computer literate.
- Analytical, accurate, and has attention to detail.
