Product Manager  

The product manager is responsible for setting product sell out targets and making sure that these targets are met through:

• Proactive forecasting of demand both for existing products and upcoming products in the pipeline
• Efficient monitoring of orders, making sure store stock transfer requests are met 100% of the time.
• Being in tune with the market and having a good feel of which new products will drive sell out through thorough analysis of the product roadmap,competitive landscape and reports from the store frontliners and managers
• Giving direction to the visual merchandise plan of his or her product
• Making sure his or her product is competitive by regularly conducting a price sensitivity analysis and,
• Creation and communication of a price action or promotion to the stores and its frontliners
• Developing and executing product training modules for frontline staff. Product managers make sure that retail sales personnel are updated on the latest sales processes and product specifications
• Periodic report submission that give key insight on the status of the product performance against its target, and giving recommendations on how to up performance.

The product manager is also responsible for ensuring a good product inventory turnover as measured by our DSI (Days Sales of Inventory) Metric. Product managers will set and meet DSI targets as part of their KPI.

• Good product managers do not under stock on the fast movers. Efficient forecasting ensures that customers do not run out on fast selling items.
• Good product managers do not over stock on the slow movers. Proper inventory management allows product managers to create action plans for slow movers even before the damage to the company becomes significant. Product Managers know which items should be classified as aging, and creates an action plan to flush these out ensuring a healthy product DSI.
