Job Description

  • Provides end user support for business information systems and applications; resolves, logs and escalates user inquiries and issues to the Technology Operations team and/or vendor/s as and when applicable;
  • Maintains Help Desk tracking records; inputs and updates requests, issues, problems and incidents in the Help Desk tracking system;
  • Maintains Information Technology equipment records and reconciles these with Accounting Department asset records as required by the company's inventory maintenance guidelines and procedures;
  • Conducts routine Information Technology operational procedures that support the day-to-day business operations; Runs End-of-Day (EOD) and Start-of-Day (SOD) processes, ensures data backups are secured and loaded onto backup sites;
  • Acts as primary departmental resource during infrastructure emergencies; escalates to the proper Technology Operations team, maintains communications with management, sends broadcast email and/or instant messages to the user community and emergency notification list.
  • Provides technical support for internal end-users on a variety of hardware, telephony and other IT equipment, software problems including operating system support, application support and system access problems;
  • Provides on-call/onsite support to/during business events; monitors online systems availability and reports issues and outages for prompt resolution to ensure availability of the system application/s required of the event;
  • Setup, configure and deploy computers and associated operating system/s and applications, connected peripherals and end-user local telephone units;
  • Performs first-hand troubleshooting for under warranty equipment and escalate findings and issues to vendor/s. Perform troubleshooting and repairs on out-of-warranty equipment and/or escalate to other technical resources as appropriate;
  • Evaluates vendor-supplied software by studying user objectives; testing software compatibility with existing hardware, operating system and programs; Installs verified software onto end-user workstations;
  • Assist the Systems and Network Administrators in the maintenance and administration of the company’s Domain, Server, Network and Telecommunications equipment, Core Applications, Database and Electronic Messaging Systems;
  • Identify accredited vendors and/or outsource for other vendors for required IT equipment and prepares requisition requests for bidding;
  • Comply with internal and external policies and regulations;
  • Performs other tasks that may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of technical support and operations covering IT infrastructures and systems, productivity applications, messaging, database systems, telephony and network technologies.
  • Knowledge: Working knowledge of common information technologies and systems: server and desktop systems, network systems ((LAN/WAN/MAN) and protocols (IP, etc.), network applications (IP-based PBX Systems, Storage Systems-NAS / SANS) and system applications (email using MS Exchange). Basic administration (querying, backup and restore) of MSSQL and/or MySQL database systems. ITIL knowledge/background. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, web tools, SharePoint, Visio, and other business productivity software.
  • Skills: Possesses problem solving capabilities; ability to apply technical standards, principles, theories and techniques; ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel; strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Technical writing for documentation or instruction.
  • Personality: Works well both alone or in a team setting, resourceful, organized, diligent, analytical, team-player, goal-oriented.
