About Client
Client is a technology enabled provider of commercial credit and cashflow solutions to small-to-medium sized businesses to help them trade and grow.
Established in 2012, Client has provided over $1billion of funding to 000’s of SME businesses. Client has 67 staff including 35 IT professionals. We are headquartered in Sydney Australia and have offices in Vietnam and Manila. We are planning on a business launch into the USA in early-mid 2020.
Client has been developing a B2B Corporate Card solution over the last 2 years which is due for launch in February 2020. The new solution will open up new market segments and underpin our global expansion plans.
Background to the Position
Client has an existing operation in Manila Philippines with approximately 16 staff. Our internal budget planning expects the in-country headcount to increase to c >50 within 12 months. This is to support the Australian business only and will need to increase further in support the USA business expansion.
Client is looking for an experienced management professional to oversee and manage this rapid growth and the servicing functions provided to the Australian and eventual USA business operations. The role will be a critical role within the Company and the right candidate has the opportunity to join now and positively influence the expansion planning.
The functional roles currently performed in Manila include: Customer Service; Account Management; Collections; Payment Processing Support; and miscellaneous administrative tasks. It is intended to add outbound lead generation, sales/client on-boarding and credit underwriting functions in Manila over the next 6-12 months.
A sister company to Client, is a funds management and investment banking business. This company has a number of portfolio investment companies that also have Philippine based resourcing requirements. This will be a further driver of headcount growth and emphasises the importance of the region to our overall business plans.
While the Manila operation will be focused around the delivery of service and support functions to the business units, it will be established and incentivised to run as a profile centre.
Job Overview
As the Country Head you will lead the in-market team to deliver strategic, operational & organizational goals and represent that team within the Client group.
You will be the liaison person with the main offices and develop goals and policies and establish standard operating procedures that are in alignment with the organization's goals – including the need to service multiple time zones.
You will perform general management duties such as supervising staff, ensuring financial targets are met, maintaining and cultivating customer relationships, coordinating functions assigned to the region and executing on agreed strategies.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Collaborate with Australia and eventually USA offices;
- Maintain effective communication with business line heads located in Australia (e.g. Head of Collections) to ensure Philippine based resourcing, training and performance measurement requirements are met;
- Develop operating plans to deliver agreed strategic goals;
- Align the in-market team to deliver plans, and respond quickly to new opportunities and/or unexpected challenges;
- Evolve the organizational structure and grow team capabilities;
- Build relationships with key partners, industry & government groups;
- Build and manage your own leadership team;
- Build and maintain a brand, workplace and organisational culture that is consistent with other offices within the group; and
- Have complete P&L responsibility;
Minimum Qualifications
- Tertiary Degree in a Finance, Business or related discipline;
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a leadership role with P&L responsibility;
- Experience managing a Filipino workforce and have a thorough understanding of the culture and management styles required to achieve high productivity levels;
- Finance industry / sector experience, ideally across small business;
- Strong competencies working with systems and be of the mindset to wherever possible adopt new technologies aimed at increasing operational efficiency;
- Competency in developing & delivering on commercial strategy;
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop & empower teams;
- Driven, entrepreneurial, comfortable with ambiguity, open, honest & direct;
- Able to travel to ensure strong connections with Sydney and eventual USA teams; and
- Must be currently working and living in the Philippines and have personal circumstances supportive of a long-term commitment to remain working in the Philippines.
