Jr. Full Stack Engineer

We are looking for a Jr. Full Stack Engineer who will work closely with a Product team of 5 individuals who cover Product, UI/UX, SEO, and Digital Marketing,

We are a for-profit high impact edtech startup that allows us to sustainably support our websites (www.edukasyon.ph and www.finduniversity.ph) Our websites (www.edukasyon.ph and www.finduniversity.ph) are used by 8 million Filipino learners aged 13-24 annually, and we have an ambitious product roadmap (including launching a mobile app) to further develop their learning and upskilling, whilst adapting to the disruptions brought on by Covid-19.

Get to know the role :

Working closely with the Head of Engineer, the Jr. Full Stack Engineer will be responsible for developing and writing well-designed codes for Edukasyon’s website. Will also work closely with the Partnerships, Marketing, and Product team, to properly execute the project needs of our clients. The challenges facing EdTech in the Philippines are numerous and sizable - but then so is the opportunity to redefine learning for the 8 million learners who use our websites every year.

Main Responsibilities

People:

• Collaborate with people across the engineering and product management teams to deliver and launch projects.
• Support, teach, and learn from, other team-members at Edukasyon, especially in Product, Digital Marketing, Marketing, and Partnerships

Product:

• Develop new features for the future of Edukasyon’s platforms, including the website and services
• Write well-designed, testable, and reliable code as you ship features that make an impact on our users.

Profit:

• Deliver timely launch of projects with paying partners and of products that will be sold directly to consumers

Purpose:

• Ensure the website and eventually, a mobile app can operate in the PH’s internet infrastructure and empower our 8m learners regardless of their internet connection quality

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience
• 2-5 years full-stack web application development experience in JavaScript or equivalent languages, on significant projects
• Experience building backend servers in Node.js and at least one other server-side scripting language
• Experience with frontend frameworks such as ReactJS, AngularJS, etc
• Experience with Cloud Technologies/Cloud Practitioner preferrably AWS
• Relational database (MySQL or PostgreSQL) experience
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs
• Knowledge of mobile-friendly and responsive design
• Experience writing performant code, with attention to time complexity, memory consumption, and Big O notation
• Knowledge of source code control tools like Git, Github, Bitbucket, or similar

Nice to Have :

• Experience working in Agile, scrum-based teams
