Job Description

Overview

The Ad Ops and Yield Manager will develop and oversee the implementation and operations of osaleaur programmatic selling strategy with the ultimate goal of significantly growing revenue in the programmatic space. He/she will run and optimize our company’s advertising campaigns and revenues in accordance with our company’sgoals, and help ensure that our clients’needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.

He/she is expected to have terrific knowledge of digital display advertising, native advertising, ad networks, DSPs and SSPs, RTB, Programmatic advertising, DMPs, and other digital advertising concepts. He/she will need to master and navigate the different technological platforms required to maintain daily ad operations andmust understand the technology and processes behind our company’s products and revenue strategies, including the company’s financial strategies, operating models, and costing processes.

This person will need to partner with our Sales team and manage key connections with advertisers, buyers/trading desks, ad agencies, DSPs, SSPs, internal clients, and other parties involved in display media and audience-buying. This person will also work closely with management to provide executive-level reporting on key metrics of the business, including volume, pricing, yield, and overall performance. Additionally, the Ad Ops andYield Manager will need to be proactive in identifying potential opportunities and foreseeing issues with our processes and systems,relying on his/her extensive experience and judgment to explore and resolve requirements in campaign delivery, for example, as well as evaluate effectiveness of past and current campaigns and optimization techniques. He/she is expected to prioritize deliverables across different simultaneous and complex campaigns based on company and partner requirements.

The Ad Ops and Yield Manager will also work directly with Sales, Content, and Tech teams to understand and implement campaign requirements on the front-end, guide optimization within and across campaigns to meet client objectives, and translate the resulting performance and insights back to our clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand how online advertising works, monitor digital trends, and keep abreast of new publisher technologies and strategies
  • Understand our company’s tech stack, products, services, platforms, and inventory thoroughly
  • Strategically oversee our ad server, correctly forecast our inventory, and effectively manage all display, video, and rich media ads across our network
  • Set up, execute, monitor, troubleshoot, and manage new and existing campaigns and accounts using careful control and self-organization
  • Optimize and influence programmatic revenues through partner assortments, waterfalling, backfill management, frequency caps, floor prices, and ad units mix
  • Evaluate new demand partners and work on integrating them
  • Execute platform tasks in a precise manner
  • Use all of the company’s tools to ensure delivery of all campaign metrics and requirementsand generate operational efficiencies across the business
  • Identify new levers for Ad Operations optimization outside of current inventory, KPI, and yield strategies
  • Take the lead in tracking and analyzing campaign objectives and performance data for reporting to all partners and identification of risks and new growth opportunities
  • Provide price point analysis and cost components to set appropriate CPM floor rates and revenue targets
  • Provide strategic support to the Sales and Tech teams as needed
  • Manage yield across multiple SSPs and Header Bidding partners, producing analysis and providing recommendations on yield optimizations
  • Manage the monthly programmatic revenue accrual and financial budgeting process
  • Work to exceed monthly Gross Revenue goals
  • Maintain reporting infrastructure for our entire programmatic practice and ensure that everything is submitted to Finance in a timely manner
  • Be knowledgeable on market developments and opportunities around the digital advertising space
  • Any other duties as assigned by the manager

Minimum Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate has digital advertising operations experience and is knowledgeable in advertising platforms and servers; experience in programmatic trafficking is a must
  • Knows own strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and limits
  • Has strong attention to detail, is able to complete quantitative and qualitative analysis, can build simple financial models, and is passionate about all things digital
  • Knows how to differentiate different technical market standards like VAST, VPAID, SSP, DSP, CPM, CPC, CPA, etc. and is familiar with web standards like HTML, JS/JSON, Flash, etc.
  • Is confident and highly motivated, yet seeks input and feedback from others
  • Has the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize some tasks over others, and is tenacious in maintaining great performance with all of them
  • Can anticipate potential failures and take action
  • Will continually search for ways to improve performance
  • Has advanced analytics skills and is highly numerate
  • Analyzes both successes and failures for clues to improvement
  • Learns from experience and actively pursues learning and self-development
  • Can meet and exceed demanding campaign targets and work standards, remaining focused under pressure
  • Works independently and accepts accountability
  • Knowledge of Excel pivot tables and MySQL is a plus
