Job Description

The position of Management Accountant – Group Finance is a critical member of the Corporate Finance – Financial Planning & Management Reporting (‘FPMR’) team. The holder of this position/s is responsible for the consolidation and co-ordination of the Group’s budgets and forecasts, including planning, analysis and reporting of financial information to the management or relevant stakeholders. The incumbent will role model SMEC values, ethics and code of conduct and ensure all business activities are carried out in accordance with these guiding principles.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant typically with 5+ years post qualification experience in the full range of financial management accounting activities and has the demonstrated ability to consistently
  • Experience within a professional services firm in initial years followed by more recent experience in industry is ideal
  • Understand accounting, business and management principles involved in financial systems and processes
  • Deal appropriately with confidential/sensitive information
  • Establish strong business relationships within a group environment and beyond to ensure efficient delivery of outputs
  • Produce quality outcomes within an environment with competing demands and tight deadlines.Innate and strong appreciation for learning and applying new skills
  • General knowledge of the business and business strategies which require application of experienced principles and/or diverse and strong analytical skills
  • Computer literacy, with competent knowledge of accounting software and exceptional Excel skills (e.g. data modelling in Power Query)
  • Ability to analyse and communicate financial information
  • Ability to work under pressure under general supervision and work is reviewed at completion
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks such that deadlines and expectations that have been set and are achieved
  • Demonstrates a keenness towards selfdevelopment and building knowledge base
